I am able to pick a new car in the next few months, given the wait times and few cars , the above is on my shortlist, what are others thoughts on this car , who have or had one please?

I generally only do about 4000 to 4500 miles a year, most of my journeys are 10 minutes long and the average speed 30 to 40 mph, is it possible that some or most of these journey/s would been done on purely hybrid electric ?

I see at the moment the current advanced payment is £999, does anybody know what it was last quarter please.?

      Many thanks for your input.

      kind regards
      Mike

Hi Mike I had a test drive a year ago before I had my Toyota Chr hybrid yes most of your journeys under 40 mph or just over will be in eco pure electric hybrid mode I go to my sisters in my Toyota in the next village 4 miles away in eco mode down country lanes etc ! After 45 mph the petrol engine kicks in what put me off the Hyundai Ioniq was it was too low for me to get in and out

Hi Mike, I’m an owner of the previous generation of the ioniq a 2019 model there are a few differences to the newest one but there are also some tips I can give you.

            1. During low speeds most of your journeys will be mostly electric with the most likely use of the engine to pull away in traffic.
            2. The ioniq is a fantastic car and has served me brilliantly for 3 years and 38000 miles so far.
            3. Occasionally I can be sat in the outside lane of a motorway doing the speed limit purely on electric power which is quite a cool feeling.
            4. The battery on the new ones is bigger than the one in mine so you’ll get even better mpg than me(50-55mpg on e5 and 48-50 on e10)

<p style=”text-align: left;”>For some reason my ioniq will always start the engine when I put the car into reverse.</p>
If you do go for the car enjoy it and if you want/need any help or tips drop me a message.

Just be aware the only way to do your short journeys on electric alone is with a plug in hybrid.  The Ioniq has to run the engine to continually replenishing the electricity used up by those short journeys.  It’s probably best not to think of whether a particular journey would be done on electric power alone, but to accept that the car will do what it needs to do to minimise the use of petrol.
