@kezo So, instead of coming this afternoon as arranged Northern Powergrid’s contractors (Clancy) just turned up to upgrade the fuse. Two vans and 3 sparkies!.
All done in under 15mins but he says they only fit an 80A not a 100A?
I assume this will be OK as the charger only takes 32A and as I don’t have an electric cooker or shower my max peak usage should be well below the 80A limit.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

You will be absolutely fine with 80A mate – Not all DNO’s fit 100A cutout’s.
Enjoy your car later 🙂
January 12, 2024 at 10:57 am #254794Almost time to go get it 🙂
Dreading the drive home!, hate getting in a strange car and having to drive in traffic, had some hairy moments driving in Florida in December, pitch black, sat-nav taking me weird ways etc. ??
Looks like I’ll get more experience driving it today, my daughter wants picking up and coming here for the rest of the day (about 10 miles from mine) and of course it’s a 20 mile round trip taking her back tonight! Good job I won’t be uing £££s worth of petrol!

January 12, 2024 at 11:17 am #254797@kezo, well this is weird, just had a look to see what he’d done, fuse clearly says 100A 🙂

January 12, 2024 at 11:38 am #254801Have they chaged the complete service head or just the cutout?
Its most likely an 100A carrier with 80A fuse fitted, which may seem weird but it isn’t. I’d takr what you were told as trufull.
Were you left any paper work?
January 12, 2024 at 12:46 pm #254814Northern Power – upgrades to existing premises Max. 80A single phase for EV chargers and Heat Pump installations.
Alot get confused when they see 100A on the carrier however, this only refers to the max Amp’s the carrier is rated to and has no baring on the actual fuse fitted. DNO’s use to at one point, fit a sticker over the carrier stating the fuse size but, they don’t any more. Think of it as a 13A plug, which refers to the max amp it will carry but, could be fitted with 5A fuse!
In most cases, unless pressented with older or damaged cut-outs,Charge point and Heat Pump installers should always assume that the cut-out fuse size is 60A regardless of what the carrier states. If the surveyers calculations confirms that the installation total load will not exceed 60A at any time then there is no need for a DNO assessment to uprate the cut-out and the EV charger/Heat Pump install can proceed and notification sent to the DNO of installation. Thats the correct way but, in many cases with national installation companies, the home owner essentially does their own survey. The contractor wwo does the install, often downrate the charger power when there’s no need to.
January 12, 2024 at 3:28 pm #254841Nice tidy install. Glad you got sorted 80A is good enough they did mine in stages for some reason. Oh I remember they fitted an 80A first as I had a looped supply and that’s the max fuse size. When they came back and unlooped me they fitted a new carrier and fuse. Voltage went up by 5 volts too according to their tests they wrote on my wall next to the meter lol
Enjoy the new car. I’m really missing electric can’t wait to get my Enyaq I hate diesel and adblue, Yuck
January 12, 2024 at 4:15 pm #254847It’s only the fuse carrier and fuse that were fitted, the “socket” was already there as was the rest of it.
Took over an hour to get the car, so much stuff to sign!!. Said 147 miles range when I got in!, luckily that rapidly updated to 345 while we were going over the various functions 🙂
Only annoying thing with the car is you can’t turn off lane assist permanently like I could with the Ateca 🙁 Apparently you can use an ODB11 to hack it to remember last position.

You have a choice – on at Ignition – off at ignition, or remember last setting at ignition.
Join Briskoda and see if anyones in your area has OBD11 and will do it for you!
Can you not change it in the settings to vibrate rathe than bing bong!
Are you happy with the car 🙂
January 12, 2024 at 4:37 pm #254854It doesn’t make any noise just stiffens up the steering wheel, can be very annnoying as we have a lot of broken white lines around here so constantly coming on. Not a major problem just annoying 🙂

January 12, 2024 at 7:50 pm #254886Ooooh white lines, now that’s a luxury.
Had to keep all that off in every car I’ve had with it as accidentally left it all switched on and it tries to throw you into the middle of the road usually just as a car is going the other way, flipping awful on unmarked C roads is LKA.
