I can order early August and I’m interested in people’s opinions on the tavascan and ionic 5.

I’ve test drove both and preferred the drive of the cupra. I found the ionic 5 drove ok, didn’t really have much other feel after driving it. The model I’d be interested in is the n line but they didn’t have that model to look round. Seem pictures and it’s definitely sportier than the premium. I think the ionic 5 probably has better spec and technology than the cupra but looks wise it’s pretty bland up against the tavascan, which was better to drive and looks oh so much better.

I’ve lined up a couple of dealers who have £1000 off the ap of the cupra so that’s the way I’m leaning at the moment.

Anybody have either of these cars and have some real world feedback and realistic range they achieve. Thanks.

Makes me smile everyday,it has everything you want in a car (imho) it has plenty of physical buttons on the steering wheel (not haptic) and below the centre infotainment screen a row of physical buttons. My car has HUD but i have switched it off.

I just had to have the exclusive velvet red paint and the 21″ supernova’s.

i know the tech pack on the Ford is £700 extra.  but having had a HUD and 360 camera alone are big bonuses for me.  it also adds lane centring and lane change assist which i dont have on the ID.3  The HUD is one of my favourite features.   i don’t have to look down at anything anymore and it even shows the route guidance from apple maps.  not sure about google maps and i never use the cars sat navs as they’re always out of date.  the auto parking is a waste of money in my opinion, never works and i have never struggled parking.

agree on the IONIQ 6 brilliant deal for anyone who does not care that the face lift will be out in 6 months but i need more head room for rear passengers and its quite bad.  other no no is the fact its a saloon and the hatch restricts loading somewhat.

Keep in mind that the HUD in the Explorer isn’t the same as in the ID3. It’s more akin to the one i currently have in the GTE (non-augmented).

Personally, if it was standard, i’d turn it off. 360 camera, the demonstrator had one (was fully kitted), still didn’t use it. It’s more agile/lower turning radius than a Golf, don’t need a 360 cam in there either.

But of course, that’s each to their own. Autoparking does certainly work (worked in my Ateca as well as in the Golf) – it simply is too slow. I can park faster by hand, considerably so. I’d even wager that i’m in the parking bay before the other guy starts reversing.

Personally, the £700 we save for (for us) superfluous options, are better invested in a frunk tray (£200ish quid), boot liner etc.

Prior: SEAT Ateca Xcellence Lux 1.5 TSI DSG MY19, VW Golf GTE PHEV DSG MY23
            Current: Hyundai Ioniq 6 Ultimate
            Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.
