Hi my sister is due to collect car monday her first vehicle on the scheme..But as we can clearly see ,daily things are changing will this lead to motorbility ,replacement cars, breakdowm services to stop operating?if so for those where vehicles are not used will we have part/all of our monthly payments suspended and reimbushed..Is it wise to maybe delay her signing taking on the vehicle?as its not guranteed all aspects like breakdown services and courtesy cars (for any issues with the car that may arise)will be possible if things keep escalating.

      Regards

      Paul

        Hi

I am in the same kind of position, my vehicle is also ready to collect for Monday

Not to sure what to do as the car might just be sitting there outside the house for ages or if there is a problem I wont be able to do anything.

Also I am worried about contracting the virus to which is another concern for me to visit the showroom

My car was due early last week and I cancelled it 3 days before collection (it was a stock car sitting on their forecourt so there was no hardship for the dealer).

The reason was predominantly that the car would be sat on my drove gathering dust for at least 3 months of the lock down and additionally I am under strick instructions to self  isolate, so the thought of collecting a vehicle and allowing cross contamination of corona virus was not appealing!!

I phoned up today and asked to push back collection to Thursday as I could not make it today. Now it looks like we are going to be in lockdown as of tonight.

I don’t want to lose the car if Coronavirus doesn’t let me collect it for a few a months but I also do not want to pay for a car I cant use for a few months.

This is all very stressful and do not know what is the best thing for me to do, please any advise ?

@Rolly Really hard situation to be in I was due to collect mine tomorrow originally but called motability on Friday to see if they would relax the rules as we thought lockdown would be happening sooner rather than later and they agreed so we collected the car on Saturday.

In one way I’m happy I did it as we now have the car and it’s amazing etc but then the other side is it’s now going to be sat on the drive for a minimum of 12 weeks with very little use at no fault of our own so fingers crossed motability will do something to compensate the customers involved but can’t see it happening

I suppose You will just have to do what’s right for you and weigh up the pros and cons really tough situation to be in

Congratulations, glad to hear you managed to get your car and are enjoying it.

Well I guess I have no choice now and can not go and collect the car due to the lockdown.

I will call up the dealers tomorrow and ask them to hold the car for me until this is all over and to honour the AP. This situation is out of my hands.

Hopefully the dealership understand my situation .
