We have had to make this change due to some unsavoury posts earlier today where the title was visible and contained language that no one wants to see.

Also:  We will only be allowing posts from unregistered users that originate from the UK, so if you have a vpn switched on you will need to ensure you are using a UK ip address.

Seriously though, you’ve either pee’d in someone’s cornflakes or someone has too much time on their hands.

I’ve been out of the IT game for a while, so dont know what has changed out there, it is constsntly shifting.

But to use multiple IP addresses is on another level of malice. I dont know how easy it is to do that nowadays, but it used to be quite difficult.

We had a game server many Moons ago and there were cheaters who used to come on and we could spot them right away and kick them off the server.

We used to tell them why they were getting kicked and they would reply with “I.ll be back next round, you cant stop me”.  We let them think that. All they had to do was change their name and they could get back on next round.

Unless we IP banned them….they never got back on. We didnt tell them we IP banned them, just let them think they could change their name….

But, in your case its someone messing around, they THINK they can win, but nope – they can not.

@Berty most common way is using VPN most common or physically changing your ipv4 and 6 address.

I don’t understand why any member would have a problem having to sign in, it helps them get their message up quicker.

Indeed, I’ve never had a VPN, but from what I understand, if you specify another country its another IP address.

But nowadays, every shop, restaurant has WiFi and will have their own IP address.

But to cause problems to the site and move to other locations to do this, is a bit extreme.  But who knows?

I hadnt really thought about it how the World has changed the past 10 years and what is available now….lol.

It is crazy the rate of change we have lived through in 12 years, and we take it for granted.

Many VPN’s have more than one server in each country and as you suggest things have moved on in past decade. Some dingbat is going to make use of that, even ever cleverer bored kids during school holidays.
