Brad
Does anyone on the forum use an air fryer? I’ve heard they’re brilliant? There’s some online for £20 – £400. Also read they can save you money?? Before I consider buying one would like some more opinions on anyone who’s got/ used one. Thanks

Brad I haven’t used it yet, I’m waiting on silicon sleeves and stainless steel grill. My son is keen to take it off my hands if I don’t use it but I plan to get onto it this week when the stuff arrives.

We have had our air fryer a wee while now and still use it. Did a chicken in it yesterday for example and after that was cooked a few Aunt Bessie potatoes and parsnips whilst the veg steamed!
I would recommend an air fryer not just because it tastes great but it is so much quicker.

Just trying a couple of Tesco Hash Browns and 2 Asda thick sausages in it. Set it for 10mins at 185 but nowhere near browned. I did blast them for 30secs each in the micro as they are frozen (As I usually do). Sauasages in the frying pan for about 10mins, hash browns go it the deep fat fryer for 5-7mins which keeps them crispy.
Just coming up to 15min now so will go and check.
Failure!! Sauasages not browned and hash browns are in several bits 🙁
I may try just grilling them on a tray next time. Any suggestions for cooking time/temperature?
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
February 5, 2023 at 2:35 pm #208446OK, so cancel that, just cut my hand open on the mesh rotisserie basket door opening so it’s going back.
The door is only half the diameter with a strong metal clip and the metalwork isn’t well finished so not risking it again.
Back to Amazon it goes.

burgers were homemade. ive a press which is just a plastic thing but it does help. a metal one with lever would probably be best, but this one can make filled burgers too. although ive never tried that yet.
minced meat of choice, kibbled onion, which is dried onion i add a bit of water to to rehydrate. handy to have in stock..(although fresh would be better i guess) bread crumbs in this case stale bread which works best. seasoning of choice, and an egg added as a binder. stamps them out well. i added a bit of hendersons relish, chilli and garlic to mine..
thanks, im improving a bit now…

February 14, 2023 at 11:15 am #209221Sorry to here youve been unwell, hope your feeling much better 🙂
Lovely hoemade burgers, which are no doubt better than shop bought. Personally I prefer tomato ketchup or if I’m feeling extragavant hamburger relish.
February 14, 2023 at 12:44 pm #209229yes kezo, i like tomato ketchup myself. or just cheese. i would advise adding a fair bit of seasoning to them. dont be shy.. strongish flavours are needed with these. i must try the filling the centre sometime. you split the mixture in 2 and use the smaller tamp first which leaves sides but a biggish indent which you fill with things like cheese, peppers, chillis etc and then top it with rest of mix using the full size one. sounds great, but dunno in practice.lol
managed to get the icecream maker out of its box and found a spot for it. will let it sit til tomorrow at least to settle. it has its own freezer in it. i like ices but being lactose intolerent means i can pay for it, so gonna tr making lactose free ice cream lol

are they the small ones?
I liked @Struths culinary deserts and gadgets he got. Sadly he hasn’t been around for a good while.
October 30, 2023 at 11:34 am #240771@Kezo, No Struth hasn’t been around for a while, I also liked seeing his food offerings, hope he’s well. They are 3.2L, ideal for 2 people. They do have a 6.2L for £59. I like the look of the Sage counter top oven. Does everything a normal oven does but uses a fraction of the energy, Bald Foodie Guy on YouTube has one and uses it for everything.
