Hi guys!
So a few months ago I was looking at the Vauxhall Corsa ultimate, auto and it had a zero advance payment on It. Seemed the closest to what I wanted since fiestas are no more! I went to order it and it had been pulled from the directory, which was annoying but happens. Then a month later they put it jack on with a £1799 advance payment! I mean I appreciate things go up, but £0-£1799 was a shock! This current price is valid until September, so I’m just wondering what other people’s opinions are, or if they have had similar experiences. Am I silly to wait til end of September and see if it goes down in the next quarters prices, or just go for it now. It is a lot of money
Thanks guys

I’d wait, or pick something else. Hyundai i20’s in that class isn’t it? There doesn’t seem to be too much correlation between sense and AP’s quarter to quarter.
August 11, 2023 at 2:41 pm #229807I’m tempted to wait as well, I mean surely they can’t increase it any further than £1799 in September. I did look at the i20, we had an Ioniq temporarily which I hated driving, so that’s what steered me away from that in the end. It’s the blind spot monitoring system that I really want, which is very hard to find on small cars now, but I believe the i20 does, as you suggested. I may just wait and hope it doesn’t bite me on the behind in September
August 11, 2023 at 2:43 pm #229808theres a lot of choice in the small car segment stonic, aygo x,c3,fabia montecarlo£599,seat arona, funky cat if youu want to go electric many much better than the corsa in my opinion.for a lot less money.
also vauxhalls delivery times are horrenddous.
August 11, 2023 at 2:59 pm #229809Thanks for your help, I will have to search the internet again for alternatives, you’ve given me options to start with 🙂
August 11, 2023 at 3:27 pm #229813Nissan Juke is superior to the Corsa..
August 11, 2023 at 3:28 pm #229814£1799 for a Corsa seems crazy. I’d wait or pick something else.

paulthey could have jacked the price up as they are having issues so it puts people of ordering
August 12, 2023 at 12:23 am #229855The Peugeot 208 1.2 GT 100 8-speed auto has blind spot monitoring… and is only £299 AP.

Stephen80For some reason the “reply” function isn’t working for me individually!
Kezo: thank you, I’ll have a look 🙂
JoJoe: my thoughts exactly ? Madness isn’t it!
Paul: I think you’re right! When I spoke to Vauxhall before the price hike when I found out that they had pulled it completely he said it was because it’s an automatic, something along the lines of it being EU regulations and we are only allowed to import a certain amount per year (not sure if that’s motability or in general) so they take them off…. How true that is I don’t know, but he seemed like he knew what he was talking about….. then sure enough a few weeks later they put it back on, but with a very sharp increase from zero, isn’t it!
Solent60: I didn’t know this! Thank you. I’ve just had a look and it seems the £299 advance payment doesn’t include the blind spot monitoring, but if I’m reading right it is only a £75 cost as an optional extra, which i would happily pay!
Been going crazy trying to find small auto cara with a reasonable advance payment, so this is very helpful!
I really liked the Skoda Fabia but the blind spot tech isn’t available on the ones available which is a pain!
Thank you so much for All your help everyone, I appreciate it greatly
August 12, 2023 at 2:42 pm #229931Stephen ; I’m pretty sure blind spot monitoring is standard on the GT versions of the 208.

August 12, 2023 at 3:46 pm #229940If you think it’s too much then it’s too much wait or look at other cars. If you need a car desperately then it’s cheap if you don’t then wait or check out others going back 30 years with Motability you shouldn’t be putting deposits on Corsa’s

Stephen80Solent60 you are right, that’s even better thank you for taking the time to look 🙂
The 208 is definitely the front runner at the moment, only other I’m looking at is this one, the Clio E-tech, but I honestly don’t know a great deal about cars. 895 advance payment which is still half of what they are charging for the Corsa auto lol

Stephen80Windy I do like the look of the mini, I’ve looked at electrics before but we have to do regular 120 mile trips one way do it isn’t practical for us, nor if there was an emergency and it wasn’t charged enough. The mini is a lovely small looking car though, hope you like it
August 12, 2023 at 7:06 pm #229976<p style=”text-align: left;”>That’s fair enough I understand we are on our second Electric now problem now is it’s so much cheaper we can’t go back</p>

I have a 208 GT Premium 130 and couldn’t be happier with it. I can’t believe that I’ve only got it for another 8-months before my 3-year lease is up. I know this is sad – but I still sometimes walk around it before getting in it and smile! It’s everything I wanted & needed and it hasn’t missed a beat:

It’s worth noting that Peugeot have just updated the 208 which can be ordered from October onwards. It’s also getting a new hybrid engine option which I’m looking forward to reading reviews about. I love the front of the updated 208 but I still think the rear LED’s on mine look far nicer.

Good luck Stephen whichever car you decide to choose…
August 15, 2023 at 12:34 am #230138One other thing to think about with the Corsa is with Vauxhall having such awfully long lead times there’s a very good chance that by the time your order goes to production they could have removed the blind spot monitoring as a standard feature and added it as an option or part of a pack that has to be paid for and as I found out to my detriment the dealer never notifies you of the missing items until collection day so you either end up rejecting the car or paying for a car with a lot less spec than you thought!

August 15, 2023 at 2:26 pm #230179I am not sure if the New hybrid 208 will have paddle Shifters as I cannot see them on the new pictures. Also they stopped the heated seats as the Premium was deleted although my Mini has them.
