Hi Paul
You ask an interesting question in these strange times of chip shortages and how they impact our lease duration.
I would advise you give Motability customer service team a call on this. It is one of those things that would have to be dealt with on a case by case basis.

I suspect those with a five year lease may well be able to extend beyond 5 years, but that will be heavily modified cars and WAVs I bet.

PaulWhen you reach the end of 5years lease, then extending for longer @DumfriesDik.
If at the end of 3 and then being quoted more than 2 years, would be a nightmare lol.
having said that mercedes aren’t far off that length of time now and some vw.
December 12, 2021 at 12:26 pm #171476On the ‘special’ non-customer facing Motability website (the one we are not allowed to mention or provide a link to but I think most members here know of its existence), an item dated 2nd December 2021 has appeared regarding lease extensions as follows:

It obviously doesn’t specifically rule in/out extending a 5yr lease, but does state:
Which customers will be lease-extended?
All car and WAV customers will receive an automatic lease extension if:
Their contract ends on or after 2 December 2021.
They have not yet ordered a new vehicle.
Lease extended customers will receive a new Certificate of Motor Insurance or temporary cover note from RSA Motability for this period. So, taken on face value, if you haven’t ordered a new vehicle you may get an extension?

ReneI don’t know of its existence, first time seeing it.
Why aren’t you allowed to mention it? Seems interesting, would like to take a gander myself. Also.. MDP reward programme, is that the dealership compensation?
Can’t find the website via google. 🙁

I believe that the ‘increase’ amounts to £20, so I’m not sure that it’s going to make a great deal of difference!

It’s Motability who need to relax their 3 month order rule even if it’s temporary with most delivery times being at least 6 months plus.
