My Brother has just been admitted to care with Parkinsons and has a vehicle on the Scheme. What happens to that entitlement now he can’t use it for himself? The PIP entitlement would presumably be better in his bank account and might pay for a better care home placement.

Has your brother gone into self funded care or is it provided by the NHS/Local Authority?

If his care iss provided by the NHS/LA, the daily living component will likely stop after 28 days of him being admitted. If your brother has self funded his care or are in the care home temporarily, he may still be eligible for the daily living component.

The Mobility Component is not affected by your residency in a care home regardless who how it is funded.

Its possible, you or a family member could become his appointee for DWP. If your brother has afinancial power of attorney, his benefits can be managed through that.
