There are many questions members have about the motability scheme such as :-

      Can I extend my lease?

Can I change my car before my contract is up and if so will it cost me anything?

How much is the GCB and will I get it if I have a few scratches?

What happens if I lose PIP?

If you have any questions about motability, then this is the place to come. We have many knowledgeable members only to willing to give advice. Many of our members have been on the scheme for decades and know virtually everything there is to know about the scheme.

        Not so lucky Kezo,

16 weeks for DWP to register the Deputy as Appointee. A further 2 weeks for Deputy to be registered on the lease agreement and now this.

Dotting every i and crossing every t doesn’t come close!

Atleast I’ll finally get rid of the Mazda CX60, even though it’s currently looking mint but unloved until handover day lol 😆

          Hello,

if I purchase a phev vehicle on motability, will I be eligible for a charger to be installed at my home? I have a driveway.

          thanks

            Sadly Not.

The free Motability chargers are for fully electric vehicles (EV) only, not plug-in hybrids (Phev).

PHEV’s sometimes come with a Type 2 ICCB commonly refered to as a granny charger, which plugs into a 13A socket outlet and charges at 2.4kWh.

My Brother has just been admitted to care with Parkinsons and has a vehicle on the Scheme.

What happens to that entitlement now he can’t use it for himself? The PIP entitlement would presumably be better in his bank account and might pay for a better care home placement.

Has your brother gone into self funded care or is it provided by the NHS/Local Authority?

If his care iss provided by the NHS/LA, the daily living component will likely stop after 28 days of him being admitted. If your brother has self funded his care or are in the care home temporarily, he may still be eligible for the daily living component.

The Mobility Component is not affected by your residency in a care home regardless who how it is funded.

Its possible, you or a family member could become his appointee for DWP. If your brother has afinancial power of attorney, his benefits can be managed through that.

                    Thanks Kezo,

It’s Local Authority organised by Adult Social Services in Derbyshire.

It’s the usual battle for CHC funding between NHS and Social Care. Don’t hold out much hope for CHC given our daughter didn’t get it 11 years ago when she had a life changing brain injury and was discharged with no sitting balance, seizures and no mobility at all!!! Money has only got tighter so less of it to go round.

His Wife and two kids have Power of Attorney, but were sure he has the capacity to decide his own fate. There’s no doubt about the need for care but he’s just isolated, frightened and alone most of the time. Parkinsons is truly horrible in the later stages.
