We will be leaving Motabilty this year, so this won’t affect us, but I do question the wisdom of this move.
Any potential saving in insurance costs by forcing drivers to be absolutely paranoid about how they drive will surely be more than offset by the cost of paying for these devices to be supplied and fitted, so I can’t see it helping to offset the VAT and IPT hikes.
I can understand the requirement for new drivers and for those who are suspected of abusing the scheme, but to impose this added anxiety on experienced drivers and scheme customers who aren’t doing anything dodgy would, if implemented, be yet another step too far in the never ending deterioration of the Motability scheme.
