I think the most important aspect of this news is that for the first time a volume carmaker (Stellantis) is offering a battery range previously only available from more “premium “ manufacturers at stellar prices. It is a given that technological advances tend to trickle down from the top and we have seen offerings from Mercedes etc with 500 + mile ranges previously.
Sadly though, the range of this car has nothing to do with technology trickling down, all they have done is put an even bigger battery in the car.
Currently the lower range achievable of less than 200miles is on 50kWh batteries, 60-80Kwh batteries are giving 280-350 mile ranges, The Long range e-3008 has a 100kWh battery.
Hopefully though in the future, technology will reduce weight and improve the efficiency, BYD seal has made the battery pack part of the structure of the car, which has a marked reduction in weight and should be more efficient.
