Hi all, very interesting comments about Terraco/Tiguan needing a Diesel engine, I’ve just been commenting on another thread about the Sharan/Alhambra which are bigger ,heavier vehicles. Some feedback is saying the 1.4 petrol engine can pull these vehicles, although mpg isn’t good. Surely the 1.5 petrol engine can pull the Terraco/Tiguan, or does anyone disagree? I am very interested in this point as I am changing in the new year and as my diesel Alhambra clogs up and gives poor mpg around town, I am considering going petrol. However I still need a large vehicle , which traditionally has meant diesel, then along came DPFs!! Diesels like being warmed up and doing the miles. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, wonky
These small engines, even if turbocharged, will move the cars around but will really struggle to move quickly or overtake. I was dead set again a 1.4 Zafira but my wife really liked it. It was truly hopeless with us struggling to get it into the 30’s for mpg. My 18d X1, with similar mileage, returns 50+ and is really torquey. That’s a big difference.
However, if you only do town/short journeys then a small engine will do if it gets you the car you want.
Good luck.
? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?
