July 15, 2020 at 9:24 pm #119161I talked to someone today at Motability and they said no money is taken until you go to pick the car up.
Hope this helps. : )

AmberspyThat’s great I will have only had car 9 days before payment due to me so not sure if they would take whole four weeks payment
July 15, 2020 at 10:24 pm #119165Pip is paid in advance so your first payment date would be the date your normal payment is due, after the date you enter your PIN number and collect the car.
There’s no Separate charge for your 9 days.July 15, 2020 at 10:57 pm #119170
AmberspyI actually thought pip is paid in arrears
maybe I’m wrong
July 15, 2020 at 11:14 pm #119173Payments will start to come to Motability Operations shortly after your agreement begins. Your benefits agency will be automatically notified that a new agreement has started after you have taken delivery.
Also the free road tax allowance it goes onto the Mb car as well.. So they need that as well to place your order so i doubt you’ll get a payment on the 22nd but you could.
As for pip mostly it’s in arrears, dla could of been both upto 1 week in advance 3 weeks in arrears, it depends and i guess if you was swapped from dla to pip it would be the same and at what point you actually made the claim in the month.
July 16, 2020 at 2:37 am #119181The payment you receive from pip into your bank account is in arrears but not the payment DWP pay Motability, DWP will start payments around 7 days after you pick up the car.

Sarah JonesJust been awarded pip for my son from 3 March just ordered our car we might be able to pick it up on the 3rd March but when would they take payment as due payment on the 24th but it’s only 3 weeks payment would we have to wait longer for the car ??
February 7, 2021 at 10:11 am #139204From the day you collect your car having accepted it and entered your pin the payment is diverted to motability. So your first payment will be the next payment it would have gone into your bank, if you collect the car on the 1st and your normal PIP payment is the 28th then your first payment would be the 28th.
You don`t pay for the car from your bank account, the motability section of PIP simply isnt paid, thats the way i understand it.

AnonymousIn my case, I received my car on 11th Sep but still received the mobility payment of PIP on 21st Sep (which was the 1st payment of my award). The 1st payment for the car wasn’t taken until my next due payment date of 19th Oct. Maybe 10 days between 11th-21st Sep wasn’t enough time for administration between Motability and DWP.

Natasha martin<p style=”text-align: center;”>Im unsure of this also. I collected my car on Saturday 12th and I’m due a payment this Friday 18th so I’m unsure if I will get my mobility component or just my daily. Not that it matters. Thanks

This how it should work for you, I think, your last PIP payment was the 28th May so the payment in your bank on Friday the 18th will be about 3 weeks worth from 28/05/21 to 11/06/21 and from last Saturday 12/06/21 up to Friday 18/06/21 will be paid to Motability.
Your 4 weekly payment after the 18/06/21 will go to Motability until the day you return the car in 3 plus years time.
Just to add in, your daily care payment will still be paid to you as normal.

But want to prepare myself if they say on the 30th .. Come and get it . Lol Help!

TinaI’m waiting for handover date for my car as the car is ready all paperwork done. Mobility payments aren’t due to then till the 7.9.22 does that mean I can’t have the car till then ?
August 7, 2022 at 1:47 pm #193226<p style=”text-align: left;”>It’s a grey area that I’ve never fully understood. I’ve had part payments taken in the first month, no payments taken in the first month and even got a rebate one year. My current lease expires 2 weeks before it should, go figure.

It’s always seemed to work out in my favour so I don’t lose any sleep over it.If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

TinaI don’t have a clue how it works , in just hoping that I get the car next week as everything is done it’s registered in my name and it’s at the dealership waiting , my online account say payments will start 7.9.22 and my letter I received doesn’t say anything about when they will start. This is my first wav I’ve waited ages and I can’t get out with the kids without it (one in pram and one in wheelchair ) so I’m praying I can have it next week make life a little easier through the summer holidays
August 14, 2022 at 1:38 pm #194157I guess it depends on when you start the 1st lease on the scheme and when your due to get the payment as most are paid every 28 days and the payment dates differ for many so it can vary alot.
Plus do mb work it all out monthly but you get 13 payments so they get 13 payments a year as opposed to 12 monthly ones. Is you next payment due on the 7.9.22 tina.
If it is then i’d imagine it would be a part payment/ but maybe around 3/4 of the allowance, if your joining the scheme the 16th.
I recently left the scheme and my 1st payment was £40 less than the full amount as it was less than a week before my payment was due that i gave back the car.
My 1st car on the scheme was over 11 years ago so cannot remember or look at the info.
Great news your getting it on Tuesday, hope all goes well and you enjoy the rest of the summer with the kids and can get out with them.

TinaUpdate on change if dates – My car is due to be delivered on Tuesday. I also get paid DLA on Tuesday. My letter has changed and now says payments start the 17th August. So does that mean I will get paid mobility allowance on Tuesday still ?

17th is the Wednesday and your getting the vehicle on Tuesday the 16th.
Do you get your allowance on the Tuesday evening? for Wednesday or monday evening? for Tuedays.
Payments will start once you have collected your vehicle from the dealership. They will be deducted from your qualifying mobility allowance every four weeks, then paid directly to us by your benefit payment agency.
Personally I would think it takes them a few days to set it up after you get the car not the next day as the payment of your allowance would already of been processed for the bacs transfer to your bank.(but i could be wrong)
If your payment arrives in your bank on the monday night for Tuesday, then you haven’t yet picked up the car and the payment should not be taken, until you next payment day in 28 days.
If it’s on the tueday night for Wednesday then it might be possible the payment is taken. Only a few days now so I guess you’ll findout soon.
