Hi sheena
we ended up waiting 6 weeks to get the car back, I did a lot of chasing and messaging with Hyundai complaints and dealership so maybe that sped things up a little but I’m not sure? The day after I phoned Motability to escalate my complaint and enquired about a mechanical termination of the contract the parts miraculously arrived at the dealers and the car was back home 2 days later!
I think if they go up too much more then people will be leaving the scheme in droves! It’s just becoming unrealistic to find theses amounts every 3 years.
I just read on an EV forum that a brand New Ionic 5 N that was being readied for delivery also had an ICCU failure the day before collection, pretty bad when they can’t even make it out of the showroom!
I have had my car off the road for 4 weeks now and Hyundai still can’t tell me when it will be fixed. I have a hire car which is a petrol Hyundai tucson with manual gearbox which was fine for a little while but is not comparable to my ionic 6 so am a little fed up! At what point do I throw my toys out the pram and make a fuss? If this was my own personal car I would be stamping my feet about now!
Picked it up December 2023 it’s done approx 7500 miles.
The software updates to my knowledge were primarily to give the driver time to get to a safe place in the event of failure, as before it went from driving to a dead duck very quickly leaving people in dangerous situations. A software update is not going to fix a design fault unfortunately. Just hope they have made some changes to the new units to prevent reoccurrence!
We have had our Ionic 6 ultimate since December last year and 2000 odd miles, so if anyone has any questions please ask away and I’ll do my best to answer. We are enjoying the car very much so far, just switched to OVO anytime for charging at 7p per kWh so that makes it very cheap to charge at home.
Manann let us know what you order, I went for a transmission blue Ultimate with light grey interior and no digital mirrors. Should arrive end of October as it’s en route from Korea.
Adrian I am not paying any extra for Transmission blue, might be worth checking the colour price situation.
I had a little discussion with my dealer again this morning stating that other people had managed to order cars from factory. Miraculously he has located a car in the colours I wanted that’s arriving end of October for collection end of November. I had initially reluctantly agreed to take a stock Ionic 5 Ultimate convincing myself it’s just as well as it’s more practical and they had more colours available from stock. However upon leaving the dealership I had instant pangs of regret. Anyhoo all sorted now ?
Hi Adrian, my Hyundai dealer told me I could only have an ionic 6 from dealer stock and that I was unable to order a car from factory in specification I wanted. Can you ask your dealer if you could place a factory order if you wanted.
I’m 99% certain I’m going to order an Ionic 6 ultimate on Wednesday, it’s not the most practical of cars with the boot opening but it is such a good car for the outlay that I am determined not to miss out on this one. I think the only thing that would change my mind is if a BMW X1 with petrol engine came on between now and then ?
Dave Hill, did you order a Level 3? There are a few around in stock and the advance payment is now £0. Might be worth checking around for something that suits you colour wise and if I remember correctly there was a £1995 AP for them earlier in the year?
Very tempted by the Ionic 6 myself. Had a drive of a transmission blue (grey) PREMIUM yesterday. Some of the interior was a little less posh than I would have hoped but generally not too bad, lots of tech and gadgets and it drove really nicely in a wafty relaxing kind of way with a decent turn of speed when required. I would go for the ULTIMATE trim as it comes with everything! Good luck with your decision ?
Hyundai dealers have posted on FB groups
ionic 6 premium £2999
ionic 6 ultimate £3499
There was one available immediately in a dealer in Leicestershire I think on Autotrader if that’s any good for you Paul?
