1st April, as well as 1st Jan, 1st July and 1st October, although prices can (and do) change at any time!

March 26, 2025 at 12:55 pm #300063I think if they go up too much more then people will be leaving the scheme in droves! It’s just becoming unrealistic to find theses amounts every 3 years.
March 26, 2025 at 2:43 pm #300066It’s dates I can’t remember Dumfries..
Just simply don’t register, hence my extended 70 plate car is due back soon..
Have to check or hopefully get notification
March 26, 2025 at 4:03 pm #300069I’m the same with DIY requests. Nothing.

March 26, 2025 at 7:39 pm #300073I’m already looking at options other than motability. In Scotland you can apply for an interest free loan of up to £25,000 repayable over a max of six years.
There are rules relating to the purchase like it needs to be electric snd needs to be second hand, and one or two other bits and bobs.
Ive been looking at the Polestar 2 and you can pick up a two year old second hand long range Polestar 2 for under £25,000 with less than 20,000 miles on the clock. Obviously you need to factor in insurance, maintenance etc but With second hand prices of BEVs so low it’s really bringing private purchase as an alternative to motability IMO.

Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.March 26, 2025 at 8:37 pm #300077That sounds like a great idea @Brydo
You’d also own it at the end, by which time EV values will have probably stabilised, so it may end up being a very cheap option indeed.
March 26, 2025 at 9:08 pm #300078@Glos Guy I would imagine prices will drop next month at the start of a new quarter.
Tesla model Y are tempting also.
I would need to fit an EV charger, although I’ve been doing just fine with the “Granny Charger” but to get cheaper electricity, from Octopus Energy, a proper charger is required.
If I remember correctly the Scottish Government, in conjunction with this deal, give £400 towards the charger.

Like you, I cope with a granny charger with our PHEV but would definitely want a home charger if we go EV next time. As you say, you can then get a cheaper tariff as well. Not sure if my Heath Robinson electrical setup would cope with it though 🫣

£25,000 over 6 year = £79.91 week
But, unlike Motability, you own the car outright at the end so, in reality, I suspect that the true cost is well under half that amount.
March 27, 2025 at 9:55 am #300114Totally agree, however, after 6 years a 2 year old Polestar will be 8 years old, you have to add insurance, breakdown and maintenance into the equation, however it nice to have the choice. We used to buy 12 month old vehicle before using the mobility scheme, the way things are going with the press it may be the better option.
Our lease ends in August 2026, if Motability plays hard ball and refuses to extend our lease, we foolishly pay over the top lease £6,999 less the £750 and £250 good condition bonus under the impression we could extend our lease a further 24 months.
Our option buy a 2/3 year old Hyundai/Kia Kona or even a Nissan leaf EV currently around £10,000/13,000, not have to pay £3,000 up front AP, so around £7,000/10,000 plus servicing and insurance.

March 27, 2025 at 1:02 pm #300130I thought this scheme would not accept new applications. Do you have a link by any chance?
March 27, 2025 at 1:42 pm #300134Yup, its closed, was thru the Energy Savings Trust website, you can register your interest in case it opens again (i.e. receives more funding from ScotGov).
In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.
March 27, 2025 at 3:39 pm #300138I spoke to the Trust a couple of weeks ago and they indicated it would be back up and running in April when new funds are distributed.
The scheme is run on a first come first serve basis and once the money is gone it’s closed until the next financial year.

March 28, 2025 at 4:56 pm #300216Yeah I’ve just passed my test today and looking to get one ordered before the 31st. Been looking at the Peugeot 2008 GT model (£400 ap).
Tried phoning close to me but most are saying June delivery. Will probably be forced to order on Monday incase ap goes up. Will phone up my dealerships that are less than an hour away and try and see if any have current stock.

March 28, 2025 at 6:46 pm #300222Yeah already seen the deals from Wakefield and phoned. The 2008 gt (petrol) were already gone. Seems like a lot of deals are electric but will try. Going to phone Barnsley tomorrow.
