I think this will now lead to further discussions on the scheme in general.
i 100% understand people complaining why do people that can afford £1000’s for an AP even get benefits??
I don’t agree but in black and white out of context it doesn’t look good. They don’t look at what you’re entitled to it’s a case of do you really need this “tax payer “ help costing us?!
As a single disabled person I couldn’t possibly save £1000’s for an AP in a million years.
i think the next conversations will be “so if they can drive somewhere and get out and walk about so why can’t they walk into a nice warm office like us???”
I can hear them now for all the “of work age” none debilitating disabled people with cars!…
If 50% were British cars in 10 years it would be good if they worked it as a better deal to us the consumers at least by having the British built ones cheaper to lease – even better I’ll take a Micra instead of Renault 5 is its only £60 a week sign me up I’ll cope!
Anyway, like I say I don’t necessarily agree with all this but I think this is now a hot topic that the government has just looked at the tip of the iceberg quickly to get a quick win for the Budget tomorrow
I’m not sure this is correct – The e-Puma starts at £66 a week and even top spec is £78….. Are we still allowed a free home charger as a 1st time lease? That’s very sensible given the state of my current motor!!
Why would it not be correct? £66 a week is still over £10,000 for a 3 year lease, for a car that you will never own! The e-Puma is currently the only car that qualifies for the maximum government EV grant, so it’s also no surprise that there will also be some very keen deals to be had for private buyers.
”Why would it not”???? Because it’s the same price as a Dacia Spring and a Brand New model and did you know sometimes motability makes mistakes!!!
That’s “Why would it not” it’s a simple/friendly question
Thanks for that but I’ve just found a few deals direct with Ford and I’m staggered….
£1600 Deposit and 24 x £136! With free Charger & fitting and 10000 miles free charging units included!
A few Ford dealers got this promo going right now, that’s really really good!!
You’re lucky your Housing Benefit actually covers your full rent – alas where I live the set rates are way below the true prices each month of private renting and council properties are like hens teeth but most importantly moving would take me out of my GP surgery catchment area and I simply cannot leave them I’ve too much going on.
I have a “P.A” I have to pay for doing jobs etc that I cannot do anymore but keep her hours as low as I can that’s what the PIP is for really. I’m pleased you’re able to take the hit of £300 a month and still live within your means
The Merc EQA is £3.5k AP at the mo
No it’s optional dude – alas… As is a heat pump which is a bummer but I know lots of others don’t have as standard.
just my personal choice of must haves along with a belting sound system too
Wow – crazy, who is going to pays £1000’s AP for a BYD or Omoda?!
I was hoping the Omoda might be a rival for the Enyaq…
if only Enyaqs had better equipment, electric tailgate etc

it’s a minefield so your advice is much appreciated:)
Thanks, Rick

But… I’m not well. Not well at all. And morphine etc, wtf is going on when a single disabled person needs to do that – 2 hours a week would do me???
Im very newly poorly and still young – how do I know what days or jobs I’ll need…
it’s disgusting- last year I could walk and clean.. it’s a new disease I’ve just gone 40 and a single person
I love this…. Think it’s this vs the E-3008 if I could…
But, this isn’t very high? Seeing people stood next to it, it’s quite small to my surprise and thus no ground clearance and I like SUVs to at least look remotely like a 4×4 ish rugged thing. Which I guess the Enyaq fits, but it’s the expensive Packs on the Enyaq that puts me off it seriously.
I’ll be keen to see this in the flesh maybe and deffo the 3008 – as for Fabric I kinda like the retro 90’s nod, I like it on the dash and places these new cars too.
mind they need to be heated still like my old fabric heated Volvo Seats on my old 340 & 960 🙂Thanks Kezo, Mitch & Adam – yeah I think I’ll have a gander over in Huddersfield at their long time dealer – but have you seen the new Grand Vitara 2024 but only in the East, not Europe or Australia but if you google it it’s a HUGE step up, that’s what we need and I’d hope they’d replace the Vitara will soon.
Adam, now I know about dumpy, I’ve owned about 6 Allegros and I love them, but that new Swift is U.G.L.Y – have you seen the new MG3 Hybrid it’s priced up against?…. Wow is all I can say – it’s a huge leap forward!
Ah ok Guys I get it, thanks – I can see why in Scotland they did that – I mean, I think I’d be gutted personally if I’d taken a car at the full allowance and not been able to get that 16.8% because that has quite literally gone straight to put my monthly gas & elec up to £150 a month.
i simply couldn’t have done it without the 16.8% as I put the direct debit up to £120 as soon as I got the 2023 increase (not till effing June and don’t get me started on that CON again) and I’ve promised Octopus I’ll up it to £150 this June…. That’s without using the gas ffs ??♂️
The difference perhaps is I’m single adult with rent way above the £350 a month housing element of my universal credit – as most people my age are stuck with that are new to this disability life gods dealt me last year, so the buck stops with me I won’t be buying a house now that’s a solid nope.
But obviously this is all helping me understand and it’d only be good for me on a £56 per week Kia if it runs on fresh air ?hence my questions around lower prices vs inflation. I still think it kinda sucks for you guys that took it out pre April 2023 that are single people

But if there was 10.1% increase April 2023 and now 6.7% April 2024…. How does it work if you’d got a car at let’s say 56.50 a week in late 2022 at which point mobility would have no clue of future increases, surely they don’t get 16.8% raised in 18 months on top of that 56.50? But if you were paying the full whack on a car, then I understand they do just “take” that 16.8% in essence?
sorry, I may be being thick having not delved into the scheme yet.
