Why does it matter what tarrif you add, it’s your utility supplier that charges you, not the ohme device
It is because the Ohme App will to tell you how much each charging session has cost.
It can only do this if it knows your suppliers tariff.
November 10, 2024 at 12:38 am in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #293096I just noticed you have the untethered charger, so the v.2.51 may be correct, I am not sure.
I have the Ohme Home Pro which is tethered and is V2.65.
I would think the circuit boards would be the same though, but unsure.
November 9, 2024 at 4:25 pm in reply to: Electricity tariffs and setting up of EV home charging procedures #293072Your Ohme App is showing you charger at V2.51.
Your charger should be at V2.65.
If you switch off the mcb to yor charger for 10 minutes and then switch it back on and see if it updates correctly.
I had an email to do that from Ohme.
It could that causing your problems.
I also have “Enable config requests” switched on. I,m not sure but I reckon that lets Ohme check your chargepoint remotely. My one has always been switched to enable config requests.
Also the tariff, is not set. But it shouldnt matter, it should go at full whack 7.4kWh as soon as its plugged in.
I use a local-ish butcher for sausages. Far superior to the mass produced stuff.
They do black pudding sized disks, and man, they are heaven.
If its normal link sausages, I prefer the 6 packs of honey/mustard or Bramley Apple ones.
The Richmond sausages are tasty, but the ton of salt they put in them draws your cheeks in. Not so healthy.
I used to buy Torchon Ham, but its expensive and now you only get 4 slices for £3.
So I now buy a gammon joint, for £7. Cut it in half, let it soak for a couple of hours, drain, refill and simmer for an hour an I now have a ton of ham that lasts ages and is awesome. The stuff you buy in the supermarket tubs, waferthin is so full of chemicals and preservatives, they taste awful.
Try Food Warehouse / Iceland have an excellent selection of own brand frozen chips, salt/vinegar, skin on, Southern fried, crinkle cut, crisscross etc. they are better than mccain stuff, and half tge price of branded stuff.
A lot can change in a few weeks.
I cant see the high AP,s hanging around much longer. In a couple of months the ZEV mandate rises from 22% to 25%.
If anything waiting a couple of months could pay off.
There is always a lot of upheaval either side of a Quarter change.
The Ariya is a sweet looking car.
Given the punitive measures the EU meted out to the UK since leaving, there is no reason to rejoin the sinking ship.
The extreme right wing stance of Poland, Turkey, and Czekoslovakia to the treaty of Rome just shows how the tail is wagging the dog.
Not surprising the EU hit the UK hard was to deter other countries from leaving the Union.
The UK. Was the EU,S 2nd biggest net contributor after Germany.
It remains to be seen whether Germany can weather the financial burden of the 20 other countries draining the coffers. The four PIGS, still have not reigned in their spending 10 years on.
Only the threat of Russian expansion has there been any form of cohesion amongst the states.
The EU is a leaky dangerous ship.
That is horrendous, I bet someone is getting their jotters…
Well, you only get hydro-lock on an ICE car, it coudnt happen with an EV.
Hydro-lock occurs when water enters the air intake and flows into the cylinder, the engine rotation tries to compress the water (water does not compress very well), locking the engine and destroying some components.
As for water getting into an EV battery, this rarely happens unless the battery is compromised by damage or indeed submersion.
November 4, 2024 at 1:19 am in reply to: How much would I save Electric vs Petrol? My petrol figures below #292803Just over a year ago I was spending £120/month on petrol and about 6k miles/ year.
Then I got my home charger and an EV, Ioniq 5.
According to my Ohme app, i had 5 months of running before it cost me £120.
To be honest there are ZERO downsides to leasing an EV over a petrol car, but you do need the home charger.
As a rough estimate if you are spending £400/ months on petrol.
You will be spending £40/ month running the EV for tge same miles.
If you get stuck with a petrol car as you put it, you phone the RAC. You do the same with an EV.
Oops, I thought it was a new post an no an old one…lol.
@kezo @glosguy
Guys, Mitch had stated a timeline of 18 months, which is quite handy, it did give food for thought.
In 18 months, I believe we will see a great many private fuel stations give up the ghost. They already have slim margins and diminishing clientele. Many rely on sales of groceries and coffee to keep themselves afloat. They can see their business has a finite life and many, like other redundant businesses will decide to get out while they can. Before the stampede to sell or FOMO.
I can see a great expansion of Lidl and Aldi stores on these vacant sites.
Nothing is guaranteed, but one thing is certain, the days of burning Hydrocarbons for vehicle locomotion are ending.
Quite rapidly.
Probably too early to even think about cars. Wait until mid 2026 before looking.
The ZEV mandate is 22% for this year and 28% for 2026.
The list of available vehicles will be very different as will the charging infrastructure.
There will be a lot of changes between now and 2026.
Bear in mind your next choice in 2026 will be the last time you can choose an ICE car on the scheme.
When 2029 comes around it will only be EV,S.
Also by 2029 you will be lucky to find a petrol station…anywhere!
The transition year is next year, 2025. That is when they reckon the changes will be very noticeable.
I was thinking about your problem.
If you want the car to obey speed signs, then you MUST have active cruise control on
Active cruise control is the basis on which HDA2 operates.
You will have to activate active cruise control first, and then try your paddle thing.
Give it a shot.
I dont know about that scenario.
Its putting the onus on the customer to cough up more cash, which is wide open to abuse by manufacturers.
Better the onus is on the manufacturers to make the cars affordable and competitive. If they dont deliver the customer goes elsewhere.
Its like the Ioniq 5 upgrade circus recently, some had enough of the shenanigans and went elsewhere
If Motability wants to innovate and offer its customers a wider choice, they could open the scheme up to 2nd hand motors, max 2 years old, something like that. You would certainly have Tesla’s, range rovers on the scheme and probably much cheaper.
Sorry I cant help you with that one.
It could be the settings in the system, you may want to check that first, and make sure its setup to drive to speed limits. Like everything else there are varying levels of assistance which can be individualised.
Its not something I would use anyway. Every speedo is set a few miles less than the actual speed. Manufacturers build an error of 2 or 3 mph. Such that with cruise control i set at 32mph in town and 74 on the motorway.
Easy to check, use google maps or Waze for navigation they show your true speed rather than the speedometer.
I would go through the settings menu first, just to ensure it is set correctly. Some of the menus you have to swipe up to see the complete options.
Good luck, you will get there, its just a pain.
This is how I get one pedal.
Switch on, bott right of dash is “autohold” button press that, there should be the notification bott left of screen autohold is on.
Once its on it stays on an sometimes my knee knocks it off.
As I pull away in Normal mode, I flick the left paddle 3 times to switch on one-pedal.
Once am on my way, I set cruise using steering wheel button top right, and when its at mY desired speed 30mph, still in town flick the right toggle up once and that sets the speed. The car will then keep the distance to the one in front and brake and accelerate to match.
It is level 2 ‘Partial Automation’ auto steer (HDA2) on motorways only. That is where its magic.
On normal roads you brake and accelerate as required, hit the toggle up,to set your speed an you are off.
Usually I dont touch the brakes and let it follow the car in front.
Maybe the my24 have reversed the paddle? But my one left paddle increases regen and right paddle decreases.
There is also the default setting i. The settings menu. My one is set to level 3 on startup.
If the heart wants….
It will be as popular as it was last year. People went nuts for it.
Maybe next quarter the price will drop.
Its all good, more choice, and a very popular car
I handed my car back end November last year and 4 weeks later it was sold.
I looked up the dvla mot checker thing an it was taxed 4 weeks after I handed it back. I looked on autotrader for it, but it wasnt there.
One pedal driving isn’t efficient and i was replying Markah2007 with my post. That isn’t the cruise control I’m on about that’s the old system as is the my23 they have brought a new one out since with more spec and efficiency but they have mentioned yours should be able to get some of the add-ons via a software update. I don’t understand why your still getting involved with the conversation as you keep pointing out you don’t care about efficiency you’ve just pointed out your car doesn’t have the same settings as mine for efficiency. I have a commute i do everyday so im trying to get the best out of it all be that i only need to charge every second week cost of living is so high so its not meaningless to me i want to save as much money as i can its not about the range.
Ah, there was s reply to my post at 10.00 am, so I answered it.
You do not get to choose who can, and who cannot reply to a post. It does not work that way.
If you want to address a specific member, then you begin your post with @(insert membername)
You should have specified your answer was for Markah.
Yup, I use one pedal all the time. In Normal mode, left paddle for full regen and the car does all the braking and accelerating for you.
I set cruise control according to the road speed signs. Accelerate to what speed I want an right toggle up to set cruise control, brake as necessary. Braking switches off cruise, so just set it again. My car is my23 and a year old.
Its the most comfortable way to drive it and nothing to do with efficiency.
I did not get the I5 to be efficient. I never did concern myself with range in my petrol car or the I5, it is meaningless. The I5 surpasses my previous cars by an enormous margin and in every respect.
Yup that is about correct Oscarmax.
Indeed, Carwow did an SUV drive them until they died a last year, all cars were on the same settings and the average was 3.2 To 3.7 Mi/kWh. They are real world figures.
If you are researching SUV EV,S these kind of tests gives you an accurate picture of your vehicles efficiency.
Well, hospital appt today, 9 miles and tried lowest regen in normal mode an managed 2.9 Mi/kWh, certainly had heating at 22 c most of the time.
Return trip, tried Eco mode, only a little part of the trip with heat on an it was 3.1 Mi/kWh. Outside temp was 12 deg.
Somewhat realistic figures for most small/Mid SUV EV,s.
Usually its always one pedal driving, it is brilliant. The car essentially drives itself.
According to Bluelink, the average is 3.41 Mi/kWh over 7000 miles.
Not that it makes any difference at all. I never usually look at efficiency or miles range.
Instead I charge it to 90% and when it gets down to 40 or 50, charge it up again.
Just like the petrol car, when it got to half tank, fill it up.
Absolutely absurd figures for the Ioniq 5.
I guess some will try and eek out the economy for bragging rights.
I drive mine how I drove my ICE car, accelerate hard, heating and ventilation on.
You can do all the calculations you want about battery size and work out what range you will get, the car just laughs at you. The minute you turn it on, the car trashes your estimates and futility.
October 30, 2024 at 4:59 pm in reply to: Anyone else has a hedgehog feeding station, and are they taking food?? #292600Always good to help the wildlife out, just dont attract rats…lol. cameras are good for that. Yup Mike, squirrels live in dreys in the trees, looks like a ball of twigs up high.
As for cameras I use a couple of makes. TPlink are good but not waterproof, i invert a tupperware tub or carry out tub and that can keep it dry. I have a couple of Ali Express waterproof ones, can be hit an miss, sometimes they only last a couple of months.
October 29, 2024 at 3:52 pm in reply to: Anyone else has a hedgehog feeding station, and are they taking food?? #292551Thx Kezo.
But I do keep an eye on the traffic, in and out of the hoghouse using a cheap Ali Express camera.
There are no rats, too many cats keep the population down. A tip from the ratcatcher, if your shed is hard on the ground, its ideal for rats. But if your shed is raised using a few bricks, the rats avoid it as cats can get under there.
