Tbh if you’re averaging such low mileage maybe look at an electric car unless home charging isn’t possible as even with a 3 pin plug overnight you’ll easily add 4/5 days worth of charge
I suppose the counter to this is that if it appears to be in a good condition is as ordered etc then you can accept and if it does end up having significant mechanical issues you would be able to surrender the lease with no loss of AP if ford couldn’t rectify the problem.
Just to add experience of this as of yesterday. Car has roughly 18k and was due to end in less than 2 months. Since all the cars I was looking at have been removed from the scheme or had big price increases I looked online at my account and it gave me the 2 year extension option so I took it. Certainly glad it was or I was thinking of leaving as electric is totally impossible for me.
You are lucky that your car was under the new limit for 2 year extensions of 20k miles. Ours has done 25k so they are telling me any extension is 6 months max.
Really? By my reckoning the benefits sacrifice over 2 years is about 7.5k which by the time you take into account the admin and all associated costs+ depreciation I doubt it does. On some vehicles/ drivers it may only just cover the insurance and servicing
April 4, 2024 at 7:56 am in reply to: Are Motability now forcing EVs where they aren’t suitable? #271478So I’ve recently had a new vehicle and chose a HEV in the end I was seriously tempted by a BEV but was put off by the lack of public infrastructure at a reasonable price and the fact I’m likely to move in the next year or so meaning I’d either have to wait for a charger or pay to have 1 fitted at my new property if it had a drive.
I think EV’s are great and if you can just charge at home do 90% of your journeys locally etc but for those that need to do regular long drives it can be a big turn off at the moment. For example I can regularly drive 150/200 miles a day 2/3 times a week now with current cars that’d mean either range anxiety all day or a charge at some point, I don’t have access to charging at work or any of my destinations so it would be an additional stop to charge.
I’m hoping in 3 years the infrastructure will be in place.
I can see why Motability are reluctant to extend leases as all the cars are sold on at auction and the resale value of a 3 year old car with 30ishK will be a lot higher than a 5 year old vehicle with 50k miles on
