Hi Matty. I hope other people have fared better than me in this regard. I sent my renewal forms back in January 2023. I heard nothing for the rest of the year & last week received a text to let me know that a telephone assessment is planned for February 9th. From what I’ve read, once the review has been written up by the assessor and passed for approval, it could take up to another 12 weeks (So I’m not holding my breath just yet).
I guess a lot of it comes down to how busy the assessors are in your part of the Country. I live in Cornwall, so I’d imagine they’ve been busy down here trying to clear the backlog after Covid. It’s been a very long year for me waiting though, Luckily, I was able to extend the lease on my current car just in time.
The 3 series looks great Wayne. It is around a foot longer than the X1, which swayed me in the end, as I have to reverse and turn in a limited space from my car port at home, (And not easy for me looking over my shoulder with my bad joints). I’ve spec’d the tech pack 1 for the reverse camera and that pack also comes with the fully adaptive lights. The video link below is the best representation of the true colour that I’ve seen for the storm bay X1.
Good luck with the 3 series. Hope you’ll love it. Camera and adaptive lights as standard on the sport I think.
They didn’t have that colour at the dealer’s, but I’m looking forward to seeing it when it arrives. The oyster leather should keep the interior nice, bright and airy in the absence of a sunroof, and I think the storm bay looks great (Though I’ve only seen it in photos and videos so far).
Thanks Jan. Looking forward to picking it up. Hope you enjoy your 2 series too – when it arrives.
I’ve ordered a 2.0 petrol auto xline in storm bay exterior with oyster interior. Drove the diesel on the test drive and very happy with it, but felt that the mpg of the petrol should be fine with mainly rural driving (I live in Cornwall). I have relatives in Bristol and the future of diesels there is uncertain following the decision to ban them from the city centre from next year.
Thanks Matt.
I figured that people who have been isolating for the past 3 months are nervous enough right now, about going outside again and meeting other people. Anyone else in this position could do without feeling any extra concerns about how going to a dealer just to have a look or ask some questions.
It worked out well for me and there are still some things out there that are worth the effort – but still stay safe and follow all the social distancing guidance.
I should also mention that my current car is not a BMW. It just so happened that the BMW garage was in between my current dealer’s and the hospital.
June 20, 2020 at 1:01 pm in reply to: Got A Letter (16/6) from Motability Saying I Can Place an Order 16 JUNE #115637JS – My change date 16th July & no sign of a letter yet.
Staying safe enough to enjoy your new car when it eventually happens, is the key point here Wayne.
I’ve now been shielding (Living on my own) since March 12th and due to immunosuppressant treatments, have been told to remain at home in my flat even after the slight lifting on restrictions in early June. I fully expect to be here still when my lease expires in early July. I live in Cornwall and my nearest motability dealers are over 10 miles away, so I’m stuck with virtual test drives on my laptop for now.
As frustrating as all this is; 1) No car is worth that level of risk and 2) There is no point getting my dream replacement car if I’m not going to be able to drive it.
The point of this msg is – I hope that all you guys out there in a similar position are able to bear with the frustration a little while longer and that all good things do come to those of us who have been waiting (For what seems a long time, now).
p.s If anyone has had any particularly good or bad experiences of dealers or deals down here in the west country, I’d be keen to hear them. I’ll be off like a greyhound out of the traps towards the good ones, just as soon as it is all clear to do so.
My change is due within 4 weeks and I’ve not received my letter yet. I had a text saying that I could order and that a letter would be sent soon, but have nothing to show a dealer.
Hi Oscarmax. I did read the same on What Car yesterday. What are the chances that some of these discounts may be passed on to us / reflected in the Q3 pricelist, or will Motability reap the benefits of these discounts?
I’ve not called them, but the deal wasn’t on their site yesterday when I checked. It was certainly added today. I only received my text msg late this afternoon to go ahead and look / order my next car, so may enquire in the next few days. Currently debating whether to jump at this offer, or wait and see prices / offers in July.
Just seen a new offer created today by Marshall BMW. They’re offering £500 cashback on AP across the BMW range if ordered and registered between now and June 30th.
