Just tried to book airport car parking and the site would not take my reg no. So, I checked on DVLA and askMID (insurance database) and the reg is not valid & there is no insurance! Feeling a bit shocked, I called RSA, they helpfully refused to speak to me as the car is registered to my wife, I am just the named driver. *sigh*

Called the dealership who supplied the car, they checked and, lo and behold, they put an invalid registration number on the car. Going in tomorrow to get the new, proper plates put on.

Damn, could have been zooming about giving two fingers to the speed cameras! lol. Knowing my luck, I would have been pulled after a police ANPR and had the car impounded…

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

Wow! that was quite lucky then that you had to book the airport parking Abercol. Silly dealer lol

Just checked mine out of interest on Askmid, and apparently i have an UNSPECIFIED GROUP 1 MODIFIED VEHICLE.

It’s been 14 days since we picked up the car so thought it would have been updated correctly by now, thinking that what it is showing is a temp description.

        Oh well, maybe tomorrow…

This happened to me in 2012. The dealer had put an X where it should have been a K

I was driving around in it for 3 months before I made the discovery it was wrong

Trev the problem is going to be your spare wheel – as they cannot deal with the fact you have a spare its coming up as a modified vehicle  lol

Maybe unspecified/modified relates to Motability being VAT free until signed off ? (I’m guessing don’t quote). Wow Abercol that could of took some explaining if pulled over.

On the subject of they wouldn’t talk to you (applies to RSA and Motability) it’s a simple process that Once done both Motability and RSA will recognise, and it will solve any further issues:

              https://www.motability.co.uk/information-for-customers/adding-a-contact-to-speak-on-your-behalf/

to be fair (but again don’t quote) the simplest way (if Motability user is adult) is to phone Motability and give them the details, they will then ask to speak And confirm if ok with the Motability user. From then on you will be able to speak to Motability and RSA on thier behalf and if a named driver you will also be able to pick up new car/enter pin. deal with any insurance claims/replacements car etc. (Sorry I’m not familiar with how it works for parents/carers of children but I  assume it’s similar)
