ReneWhat, did Volvo just stop producing the XC40?

WigwamSeems strange. Have you complained to Motability, martinod?
April 4, 2022 at 2:25 pm #181793So after 5-6 months Volvo decide to cancel be they can no longer supply the car. Would they have done that to retail customers, very much doubt it and they can get away with treating mb customers like dirt. I bet your tamping.
Re the grant I don’t know maybe ask in the mobility help questions.

ReneProbably someone with cash in hand needed that build slot, lol.
Would be a funny joke if it couldn’t be actually true.
April 4, 2022 at 10:13 pm #181854Sadly my sister has had the same conversation this week she has had a xc40 on order since October only to be told that Volvo could not promise to fulfill any orders possibly for the rest of the year and into next .to add insult the dealer stated that they normally have 40 to 50 vehicles for sale but currently have six and the Volvo S60 she currently has the dealership would be delighted to purchase from her. So this situation is currently affecting everyone

ReneIf they can’t fulfil the order within the year, give the customer the option to wait. Motability absolutely accustoms waiting times, even at that length.
The only reason not to do that is twofold: either they don’t want to sell the car to a Motability customer, or B: they didn’t order the car immediately after the customer left the premise and sat on the order until the car was removed from the scheme, at which point Motability wouldn’t accept the order anymore.
Don’t make the mistake and think the dealership “lost out” or “is sorry”. They’re not. They’re solely responsible for this.
April 5, 2022 at 9:26 am #181860Rene, If these are the only two reasons how do you explain that ‘Shed965’ was reporting a retail sale with the same cancelled outcome without the option to wait, unless they left that information out.
They have started production of the C40 at Ghent, I guess that puts more pressure on the XC40 line, Volvo themselves promised 60% EV production out of Ghent by 2022, more pressure on the ICE, Suspect the ICE will be gone by the end of the year.

ajnNightmare
I think they got the new XC40 almost spot on..
April 5, 2022 at 10:20 am #181866Also the xc40 was given a facelift in February 2022 – new prices and new trim lines.

Irrelevant, since people who ordered in september last year had their car built in march this year (https://www.xc40forums.co.uk/). Average wait time since september 2021 is around 4 months according to their polls.

Sucks to be them, that doesn’t mean that you just cancel orders, what kind of excuse is that supposed to be? Even Mercedes, which we all are very familiar with by now, still honoured the orders despite spec and price changes. ID3, same thing: the specs that were on offer don’t even exist anymore.
Now, we can argue whether or not MB’s systems aren’t flexible enough to accommodate minor changes likes this (the customer is still very much entitled to an equal valued car – his order should’ve just been converted to whatever new spec is closest to the old one he ordered) – but that doesn’t absolve a dealership/manufacturer from the issue that they’ve sold cars just a few months back that they clearly weren’t able to deliver.
The way this actually works is that you stop taking orders for the old models, start taking orders for the new model, finish the orders for the old models and then start building the new ones (very much like VW is doing with the ID3 Max that many have on order here).
Fair enough, there might’ve been circumstances where the dealership is “less at fault”, i’ll stand corrected: but in its entirety, it’s still 100% Volvos fault.

ajnYes WMC, those increase’s in AP wouldn’t be for me..
I guess you might get money back by fuel saving, however dumping that much cash on a lease car for me is to much in the times we’re living at the moment..
Still a nice car though
April 5, 2022 at 12:02 pm #181872Me either, unlikely, scary times. It is.

Papa SmurfJust had mine xc40 canceled by Volvo. Ordered it and off august last year. Sure they gave it to normal customer instead. Cardiff is crawling with them lately
