If a vat increase is announced in the budget next week, and my car came after the increase , would I be liable for the extra vat? even tho I have signed a contract and paid a deposit at current vat rate.

      Thanks

Well it just gets better and better. I’ve just noticed on the revised invoice (which confirms the final agreed trade in price) that the £2,000 discount has been applied to the pre-VAT price, so we are in fact getting a discount of £2,400 as we save a further £400 VAT. And I’m still in shock at getting £8,300 in part ex for a car that we bought brand new nearly 7 years ago for just £12,780 (I got an 18% discount back then compared to just over 10% this time). Even with insurance, servicing, tyres and road tax added in, the car has cost less than £1,000 a year to run. Had this been a Motability car, it would have cost £3,250 a year, even for a car with zero AP ?

          Good for you 🙂

From what I have heard tonight Benifits, pensions, pip etc will increase in line with inflation 10.1%

The rate at which you start to pay higher rate tax will now be £125k (forgot the exact figure) reduced from £150k. As I said earlier ?

No mention of a VAT rate increase.

I’m glad that worry has been taken away and you can look forward to your new car arriving 🙂
