I remember white egg shells as a child in the early 70’s, I’ve not seen them in years, they’ve all been brown. Just got a dozen from Sainsbury’s and they’re white, it actually brought a smile to my face, even Mrs Joe was impressed!

All about the colour of the hen’s earlobes and whether or not the hen is stressed.

Not seen a full carton of white eggs for a ages either.

I read the shell colour comes from the bread of hen. I entered the number printed on the egg into the egg tracker on Sainsburys website and found they are good old Lancashire eggs from Dolphinholme farm near the Forest Of Bowland. It’s nice knowing where you food comes from and that it’s less than 45 minutes away.

I always thought white eggs came from white hens and brown eggs from brown hens???

We get white eggs fairly often here, so I’ve never really taken a lot of notice.

Asda used to sell a pack of free range  eggs that were pale blue and pink. Not seen them in a long while.
