      Hi all

      Happy new year!

Please can you help, I’m getting more confused by the second!

Around 3 years ago I had a Seat Ateca on motability but 6 months into the lease I lost my licence on medical grounds and had to give the car back. I know have just got my licence back and want to go back on the scheme.

No matter how much I Google I can’t get an answer to this question…do I get the New Car payment of 750.00 again? Some sites say no as it’s not my first mobility car but others say yes.  This payment will determine what car I get. I can add another few hundred max to that.

Secondly, please advise me on cars. I’ve always had large cars but now I want something very small. And fun, not dull.  I love the Mini convertible in yellow but I can’t afford it unless I get the 750. I’m confused by what spec a lot of the different minis are, and I do need a reversing camera and heated seats if possible, so I may have to sacrifice the convertible to pay for these on a hard top, if it works out cheaper.

What other small cars are good for the money but look fun and interesting? I don’t want to have an old lady car, even though I’m an old lady!

I also like bright cars, so yellow in anything would be my first choice if possible but if not something fun.

      So…depending on if I get the 750.00…

      Small easy to park

      Not boring

      Fun

      Reversing camera

      Heated seats for my back

      Yellow if possible.

Thankyou 🙂 I’m open to all suggestions

How about the new Peugeot 208 GT in yellow?

It’s small, lots of fun, easy to park, has a reversing camera, and is now a mild hybrid – so can run on electric in town a lot of the time. It was £99.00  last quarter (not sure on the latest Q1 prices). You would have to find £500 to add the electric heated/drivers’ massage/lumbar seat option.

The £750 is, as far as I am aware, definitely a one-off. If you had it previously I would expect you wouldn’t get it again.  It might be worth asking Motability though as you returned the previous car relatively quickly so there may be an exception I don’t know about.

There’s always the possibilty of a grant too, although that is a whole other set of hoops to jump through.

Just use the Motability ‘New Vehicle Payment’ checker to see if you’re entitled to it. Easy…

If you come of the scheme around 30 months ago due to medical reasons, you would not have recieved the new vehicle payment. It was introduced in March 2022 and was upped from £250 to £750 in March 2023!

                Thankyou !

I quite like the look of the yellow Peugeot!

I should’ve said also, I need an automatic transmission only.

I’ve just checked on the mobility  linked above about the new vehicle payment but there’s not an option that answers my question as it seems geared towards if you have a lease coming to an end or if it’s your first car, none of that fits my circumstances.

So, unless I get the 750 Im going to have to rule out the mini convertible.

Maybe a normal mini will have to be considered along with that Peugeot? Which car is best out of those,,,

The Peugeot 208 GT has an electrified 6-speed automatic gearbox which includes an electric motor.

Maybe it was 250 I received. I posted on here when I was looking for my first mobility car, so I,ll look and see exactly when that was? I think it was around 2 and a half years ago.

Can you remember when you lost your licence and handed the Ateca back?

September 20, 2020 you wrote, you were picking your Ateca up on Friday!

Given you handed the Ateca back around 6 months later, you wouldn’t have recieved the NVP, as it did not start until March 2022, meaning you will be entitled to it this time round 🙂

You may have got confused with any pro rata AP refunded or good condition bonus, you may have received at that time.

Kia Stonic is on the scheme now, they do bright Banana Yellow. My friend has just ordered one in that colour to buy privately.  It’s her second one now.

I’m just looking at the Kia now, thankyou.

Can I please ask a question for a friend too?   She had a mobility car as an appointee for her very disable Daughter who has now gone into a care home so the car was given back about a month ago. My friend has now just been awarded mobility for herself so can think about getting a car herself.  Does she get the 750?  Even though she had a mobility car before as an appointee? Thanks all. What a helpful forum.

I would say yes, as she would be classed as a new customer!

I’m an appointee for our disabled daughter. The car itself is in her name, even though she is not old enough to drive quite yet and I just serve as her appointee. So if your friend joined the scheme the car would be in her name as a new customer.
