When Your GP Is Not A Doctor

Had a GP appointment and saw a new doctor she was young but very good. She spent ages with me and told me to come back and see her in a couple of weeks, even telling me the days she’s there. I got home and looked on the NHS app and saw the notes she wrote, all very accurate, but she didn’t have the title Dr, it was Mrs.

She prescribed a new medication for my ludicrously high blood pressure.  Can this be an error on the notes or are physicians assistants now working in GP practices? Mrs Joe saw a PA in hospital but she introduced herself as a PA.

PAs are unable to prescribe medication in the UK. However, close work with supervising physicians and arrangements developed individually and supported by the trust or practice can allow for flexible ways of working and a continuation and expansion of quality patient care.

Managed to get an appointment at our local practise with a locum GP for unrelated problem he was very good, he picked I was was not walking well with my walker, after examination he informed I had problem with both hip, the right being the worst and limited movement in both knees, he sent me to the hospital for X-rays next day

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

I’ve discovered it was a doctor I saw, she was great. The practice uses PA’s and advanced nurse practitioners who can prescribe. You can usually always get in same day if you ring early. I’m not too fussed who I see as long as my issue is dealt with.
