        Monday is getting closer but will prices change on New Year’s Day ? Have we got to wait for Tuesday 2nd to see the new prices ?

        Just says later in the day.

          They usually update on 1st Jan Mike, but over the last year they have often been delayed until mid-late morning and the first day of the quarter is usually riddled with errors and omissions, so it’s anybody’s guess!

            There are some very decent EVs making it on to the scheme now, including some from premium manufacturers, such as the Audi Q4, BMW iX1 and BMWi4. As you are alleging that this is fake news, perhaps you can point us in the direction of the ICE equivalents of these three cars? A petrol BMW X1 or BMW 3 Series Touring would, I am sure, be of interest to many of us and we have clearly missed them.

            I don’t want to get misrepresented as on the side of the troll, far from it.

            For information, in the EV world a lot of the premium names are not looked on in the same way.  For example Jaguar’s I Pace hasn’t been well received as all the bulk that makes a Jaguar a Jaaag makes an EV uneconomical.  The Genesis (the Korean luxury brand from KIA/Hyundai) are much more of what a luxury EV can be.  Clearly there are exceptions, where the legacy manufacturer has learned how to take the advantages of an EV and apply them to their luxury branding, like the Mercedes EQS and Porche’s Taycan.   I  look at the brands that have made the scheme and their offerings to us and I’d much rather stick to the Koreans, The BMW base models, the Audi Q4 base model  they’re a great introduction but they’re just not good enough when put up against a fully specced Ioniq 5 or 6.  Even with Volvo coming on to the scheme, they’ve missed the point. Another base model of what would have been a really decent car.  The iX1 has all the range, without the range (excuse the intentional pun) I’d bet the value of my house that an iX1 xDrive 30 or an i4 eDrive 40 would be exponentially more popular than the short range versions.

            I'm Autistic, if I say something you find offensive, please let me know, I can guarantee it was unintentional.

              its great all these high end evs are coming on the scheme but what are the rest of us supposed to do?

              That’s one of the points I made this morning. Reading this forum you’d think that 90% of Motability customers are switching to EVs, yet I think the latest figures they released said it’s only about 10% so far. I said the same as you – they aren’t catering well for the majority.

              Around 150 BEVs compared to over 500 petrol cars, so fake news/trolling. There are no ‘high-end’ BEVs are on the scheme, cars on the scheme are equivalent in spec and quality to the petrol equivalents. Retail price is nothing to go on, a huge proportion of a BEV is the battery, manufacturers are offering discounts on BEVs to meet their emissions targets. Look at the prices for PCP/Lease deals on petrol cars, they generally higher than BEV deals, that is the best link to deals Motability can offer.

              Actually there are 223 petrol cars, that have 5 seats and are automatic. The remaining 300 are either match box size or manual. Not what I’d call disabled friendly.

                @jim, i dont troll!

                firstly your only looking at a small part of my post, the main point was that ev’s in general dont suit all people as they cant charge from home and may not have suitable or conveniant external charge facilities.

                as regards the new ev’s coming on the scheme you have to go by the retail  price as the scheme supposedly has limits based on retail price. its part of its governance. hence where are the ice 50k cars to match the likes of the mach e etc.

                if you had taken the time to check my posts i am not anti ev in fact would love one but the lack of infrastucture is a huge problem. also many are saloons so too low for me and the high ap’s too expensive.

                if you can afford the ap’s and charge them then good luck to you.

                but as we get closer to losing ice cars the choice for people like me shrinks to silly levels. if we are allowed hybrids the juke i currently have and ? will be my choice as this time round pretty much only the juke and 3 or four ice cars were suitable for me getting in and out of. hopefully some of the ice cars i could get in will become hybrid.

                in fact i hope many more cars of all types come back onto the scheme as i remember a time when there were 2500 available to choose from.

                  @MFillingham I absolutely get what you are saying. I haven’t ruled out an EV and would agree that the Hyundai ones are far better value and well equipped as standard. I had a look at the Ioniq 5 & 6 when taking my daughter’s Hyundai in for a service and have to say I didn’t like the look of either of them – outside or inside, but I admit that’s personal taste. I’ve bought Hyundai’s privately for one of my daughters, and go in my mates Santa Fe a lot, but I’m not convinced I’d be happy to pay £12k plus advance payment for one. I agree that they do EV technology better than the premium brands, but the interior quality just isn’t comparable IMHO. I’d definitely be interested in a Genesis though as the interiors of those looks excellent. For balance, I sat in a top spec Tucson though and whilst I don’t like the exterior, the interior was pretty good.

                  @kezo
                  that’s exactly my point. Plenty of ICE tiddlers but poor choice for those of us who have to have bigger cars, especially if you are after something of decent quality.

                  @mitch
                  I remember the scheme having over 4,000 vehicles (it wasn’t that many years ago actually) and that was already cut back a lot from where it had been. I believe that it may have been over 6,000 at one time before the Daily Mail article that resulted in all the top end stuff being culled.

                    I agree completely. Motability keep putting up good cars at trims which as just not desirable which is extremely unfortunate for motab customers, especially since the price difference is often not significant and many are happy to take it in the AP. e.g. the eDrive 35 instead of the eDrive 4o – range is so so so important, the 4o would have much more interest

                      There is a balance between what Motability can offer within their parameters and what the manufacturers will allow on the scheme.  The daily fail piece did a huge amount of damage and many manufacturers have changed their model to selling before production, which means they’re not needing to shift as many cars at whatever price they can get.

                      Maybe if the model required less of a margin for Motability we’d see more cars fit on the scheme?

                        VAG are bringing the Taviscan to Europe from Chinese factories. That would make a nice addition to the scheme.

                          BMW also ship the iX3 to Europe from China. Whils’t not a X3 it to would mnake a worthy addition to the scheme.

                                No it’s not, you should know better being a BMW cheerleader.

                                I was only driving one the other day and it was most certainly an X3.

                                Apart from being RWD and an electric power train it’s the same car but nicer.The ride was just as good, handled even better more refined and built too the same standard. I would love to see this car on Motability but at over £60,000 I’m not holding my breath.

                                    Thanks for clarifying (I shall ignore the ‘BMW cheerleader jibe). I thought it had the latest generation interior (one piece infotainment and instrument cluster etc) but having just looked it up I see that it has the older style dashboard and still has things such as the favourites buttons (which I think are a fabulous idea that I would really miss). Even though I would prefer a petrol X3, if the iX3 came onto the scheme then I would order one but, like you, I won’t be holding my breath.
