We see a few like that about. Local contest between wood pigeons and crows and magpies, unfortunately..

That’s what one lady said on another forum, magpies and crows love eggs, she also said parent birds will also throw out in hatched eggs out themselves too.

Looks like a wood pigeon to me, ajn. As you suspect, probably been nicked by a crow of some sort. Not surprising given the way wood P’s chuck up insecure nests in the most easily predated sites.
