I thought I would make a thread on what caught you eye in the news good or bad. This follows on from last week when I posted about the MP Lee Anderson who suggested we could cook a meal from scratch for 30p and foodbanks weren’t needed if we could cook.
So today another Tory MP Racheal Maclean the safeguarding minister has said “That people struggling with the cost of living should take on more hours or move to a better-paid job”
How does a comment like this help the most vulnerable in society. Those that can’t work, the disabled pensioners or even those that can only take up low paid work for what ever reason. I find Mp’s and ministers are so out of touch with with the public, the comments they come out with are beyond nonsense.

Lada is launching its new Granta Classic Sedan with all Russian-made components – but no anti-lock braking system, modern seatbelts or satellite navigation.
Lada, which is owned by parent company Avtovaz, claims the car is the cheapest on the Russian market at 675,900 roubles (£9,500).

June 17, 2022 at 3:33 pm #188538Boris Johnson has pulled out of a major red wall conference with Tory MPs, councillors and business leaders in Doncaster.
The prime minister’s spokesperson announced he will not be attending the summit on Friday afternoon, just hours before he was expected to appear.
Sky News understands the reason for him not travelling to the north could be revealed in the next couple of hours, fuelling speculation over his absence.
The inaugural Northern Research Group Conference had been titled Levelling Up The North.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak is understood to have attended a private dinner with conference-goers on Thursday evening.

He took a tumble when he tried to get off his bike at the end of a ride on Saturday at Cape Henlopen State Park near his beach home in the US state, but insisted he was not hurt. And agreed he looked like an old fool 🙂

June 24, 2022 at 9:21 am #189075Ah but but…
Labour and LibDems didn’t really win you see. It might look that way, but it’s just that lots of people who would have voted conservative decided the weather was too nice and they’d stay in their gardens for the day.
June 24, 2022 at 10:08 am #189079….as of course labour voters dont have nice gardens so had nothing better to do than vote. lol

Boris was good for one thing only and with ll the contempt and lies that’s gone on, I don’t hold much hope. Having said that I personally don’t hold much hope for any party.
June 24, 2022 at 10:35 am #189083In relation to that, what caught my eye is that Dowden resigned, with a clear message to Boris Johnson:
““Our supporters are distressed and disappointed by recent events, and I share their feelings.”
Which, of course, Boris Johnson argues isn’t about Partygate, Tories grooming children, or Tories watching porn in parliament – voters are still distressed by Covid, that’s it.
“Asked if the defeat was because of his leadership, Johnson said the results should be examined in the light of Covid and the cost of living crisis.”
In the answer to Dowdens resignation, he says:
“Whilst I completely understand your disappointment with the by-election results, this government was elected with a historic mandate just over two years ago to unite and level up. I look forward to continuing to work together on that.”
I’m not sure if the guy genuinely is delusional, or whispers himself to sleep by repeating “they must love me” and “it’s not me, it’s them”. That work so far has done wonders for all of us, at least people can proudly point at their blue passports for identification at the food banks that are running dry due to the vast increase of people requiring them.
This isn’t even about conservative or liberal anymore. Don’t care whether or not you’re a Brexit supporter, Pro-EU, tory, labour – looking at Johnson and being okay with him desperately clinging to power as if his life depends on it, constantly, delusional quoting that it’s “the will of the people” etc.. He’s a joke. A really bad one. And the sooner he goes, and is replaced by a guy that genuinely has the interest of the country in mind, rather than his own or that of his leeches sucking his teats, the better.
Self-serving pricks. The entire tory front bench, with Johnson and Mr. “i’m proud of my awful suit” Rees-Mogg at the front, should get fired to the moon.

he just has a huge brass neck. also he has spent all his life lying and he now has no idea what the truth really is now; so just follow boris to your riches or doom … you just have to look at the people he surrounds himself with. no talent shills .
