Hi everyone hope your well just looking for some information on the VW ordering process and time frames etc
It’s the first time we have used motability and also ordering a brand new car so a little unsure on how everything works etc
We ordered a VW Tiguan R-LINE tech on saturday afternoon and managed to get the dealership to match another dealer 200 miles away on the contribution payment of £400 which was a great help 🙂
The salesman stated that as it was a weekend motability was shut so the order would not be complete until today Monday.
I have checked the motability tracker this afternoon and it’s now showing accepted etc and the order will now be completed by the dealer
The salesman promised a call on monday to let us know everything had gone through etc but no call 🙁 we called at 6pm to be told yes all completed etc and a VW order tracking number issued
He still couldn’t give me a rough collection or build date etc just stated sometime in march and the 31st to be on the safe side
Does anyone know when i will be able to obtain a build date or rough delivery date etc ? the VW app states it takes 72 hours for the order to show etc
As you can probably guess we are quite excited So any help to put my mind at rest would be very grateful thank you

@Wenglish, thats not good at all, few months wait………Hope you get it resolved quicker
Think you may be right, mine must have been built just after these issues.
@Phaedra, Wenglish and mine (Both R-line DSG’s) were ordered i think within a week of each others, if i remember rightly mine was ordered just before wenglish’s. His (or hers’s) moved to stage 3 within days of the order, but mine took slightly longer, perhaps because i added an extra. I ordered mine 25th Jan, although i don’t think the official order went through till 1st of Feb. I was given delivery date of 9th April. As of yesterday mine has moved to stage 5b which i think means its at the port awaiting shipment to UK. From what i’ve read it takes roughly 4/5 week from this stage to being able to pick car up from dealership. I think thats roughly 11/12 weeks.I guess its the luck of the draw.
Chris, did your dealer send you the tracking info/link?, how soon after you ordered?

@Phaedra, I had the VW order no about a week after i ordered the car, hence why i think they waited till Feb to put the order through.
I see there is a VW Recall affecting some cars due for March delivery
hope it doesn’t affect anyone on here but you might be contacted by your dealer shortly if you are expecting to collect any day ?
Mine has just got to the UK . Delivery for the 29th so might be delayed . I have heard it’s something to do with the fuel lines .
When did you place your order Sean ?
31st of December so up to now it was going good but I have seen it might just be a delay for about a week . By the way it is only the Diesel effected .
@Wenglish, any movement for your car? I noticed on the Tiguan forum there is a fix and its only a short delay, at least for the cars that are in the UK that are affected that is.
Hi ChrisM unfortunately we ended up having a really bad experience over the last few days with the dealership involved so ended up cancelling the order.
We now have a new order placed with a new dealership not connected to the original franchise unfortunately it’s 2.5 hours away and with no discount applied to the upfront cost but the difference in customer service received compared to the original dealer is truly unbelievable and well worth the extra hassle involved.
The new car they have ordered has already been built like mine originally was but its not one of the vehicles effected so was advised we should receive it in the next 2-3 weeks.
I got a £500 AP discount from jct600 when I ordered my allspace in Dec but now they’re offering £600 AP discount, would it be cheeky for me to ask for the higher discount as my cars not getting built until April?
I went out today with just the intention of a test drive in a R-Line Tech, as I’m not eligible to place my next car order until the end of the month, the dealer had no problem in getting the ball rolling & put the order through with not even a good faith deposit asked for.
So with the shorter build times, a motability order date of 29th March for collection on the 29th June, mine should have been standing long enough at the dealers to include a free spider or 2 in the wing mirror cowlings lol

Hi @wenglish, yes, now 5C as of Saturday. So still on course to be at dealers by April, only problem is i can’t pick it up until the end of April / early May.
How is your new order going along?
I just emailed Ashley at JCT600 for my tracking info, he said I was due for build week 18 but it’s been moved to build week 14, so 4 weeks earlier, early May 🙂

Hi @ChrisM so happy yours has moved onto the correct stages mate and not stopped and held in limbo like mine was for weeks on end with no communication. I have just had the order number off my new dealership or the order we placed last week and called VW expecting the worse due to the issues previously but I’m so happy to say mine left emden on a ship over the weekend so it’s probably arrived already,Looks like it could possibly be the same stage as yours from looking online but fingers crossed i should have it in the next few weeks, as long as there is no more issues lol ?
@wenglish, great news. Fingers crossed should be with you in the next couple of weeks. I’m counting down the days for mine just gutted I can’t afford the ap until April payday

@ChrisM Brilliant news 🙂 mine must be on a different boat to yours then I believe mine might be on the Malacca Highway ship due to dock in sheerness port around lunchtime today, that’s a pure guess though and it might not even be on it ? just putting 2 and 2 together from what VW have advised
@ChrisM Has dose the VW order tracker state it’s in the uk ? Mine still hasn’t updated other than saying STEP 5 IN TRANSIT / YOUR CAR IS IN THE FINAL STAGE OF ITS JOURNEY TO THE UK
VW Stated yesterday it left Germany on the weekend so I would assume it should be over here by now

also had email and text saying the same
Further update – phone call from dealer this morning confirming car is in UK and saying I could pick it up if I wanted within the next 10 days. Explained had to wait for my April salary to pay the ap and he was fine.
based on whole order process if I was able to pick car up when ready, from order placed to pick up would have been 8 weeks
now got long 5 week wait…..

just the long 5 week wait now which will be a drag but at least you know it’s ready .
mine is still in transit was told the ship name etc and it left emden on the 7th but it’s stopped of at Grimsby and now at the port of Tyne with no movement since so god knows what’s happening ? looks like my run of bad luck is to continue along with my New salesman now on sickness leave ?
Anyway I have a hire car arriving on Friday so at least we can get around again it’s been a long 5 weeks without a car
