Trying to tax my EV

      Surely a simple task?  You would think so but Motability do their best to make it difficult ?.

      My second EV and, again, explained to Motability before I got the car that I use my exemption on another car and therefore am personally responsible for taxing the EV, even though it’s purely a paper exercise.

      My EV tax is now coming up for renewal.  Anything from DVLA or Motability – nope.  Filled in the Motability contact us form explaining the issue.  8 days on and no response.  Rang Motability and spoke to someone after 18 minutes on hold.  They said they would text me the doc ref needed to do the car tax.  Did I receive a text – what do you think?

      I thought I would give up ringing and request a copy of the V5 online.  that came through today but what they call a V5 is not a V5 ?.

      Ended up ringing again today.  Explained that this is my 4th time trying to resolve what should be a very simple issue.  The lady didn’t seem to understand then I said that what they send out is not a V5.  There’s no doc ref or most of the details you would find on a V5.  Why call it a V5 when it is not?

      Finally got the doc ref number texted out to me.  I don’t understand why this wasn’t done automatically, bearing in mind that Motability had all of the information well before I got the car.

      I’ve read other threads where people are saying that the service from Motability is not what it was.  Unfortunately, I have to agree.

        I have recently within the last fortnite spoke with 5 different people at Motabilty, who all said totally different things and not one of them attempted to answer my main question. The last person I spoke with told me Kia are having a name change and its not possible to have the Sportage!!

        I haven’t bothered ring since.

          It’s really disappointing, isn’t it? Motability used to be very much at the top end for customer service but that’s definitely no longer the case ?.

            Very!

            They have been going down a slippery slope for a while, untill dropping off a ciff when Covid came.

            I guess they are still working “out of office” like so many others.

                @kj35

                No. It’s your exemption so you can use it on any car you own.

                My Motability EV is currently zero tax whereas my other car is £320 a year so it’s a no brainer.

                    Long story – There are some PHEV’s at the docks but, Motability say on one hand I can have one and the other hand say no, with the last person I spoke with sayng Kia are having a name change. The dealership would be happy for me to have one now but…
