What options are there for towing a 1500kg caravan now?
Currently set on the IONIQ 5, which can tow up to 1600kg. EV6 ‘s AP is too expensive.
The models based on the ID.4’s platform are limited to 1200kg, and that’s on the AWD models.
Ariya is 1500kg only on the AWD models – which have been removed from the scheme.
Non-EV options aren’t much better – Tiguan is one.

Re your caravan weight? The 1500kg is this the Mass in Running Order weight or the Maximum Technical Permissible Laden Mass? The first one is the caravan weight empty and the second one is the maximum weight recommended for the caravan. So in reality the braked tow weight required is often less. This is a dated but excellent explanation:

I suspect we are at the MTPLM, as we do carry quite a lot in the ‘van.
What problem do caravans pose? They are no slower-moving than lorries or horse boxes. They are not dangerous if pulled with care and consideration. The road isn’t a race track, it’s to be shared with all users.
