From the Motability website dated 21st December 2021:
”Since March 2020, Covid-19 restrictions have led to reduced use by customers of their Scheme cars. This has led to lower insurance claims, and less wear and tear. As a result, during 2020 and 2021, we sent two £50 rebates to customers. We are pleased to say that we will now be able to share a third £60 rebate with customers who joined the Scheme before 18 July 2021”.
Payments will start on 24 January 2022 for customers who have given us their bank details in their Motability Scheme online account, and from mid-February for all other customers.

Funny you should say that as I can only remember one £50 as well ? Anyway, a nice surprise and we shall have a lunch out on Motability in a months time – if we are still allowed to!
December 21, 2021 at 5:14 pm #172205Or it could pay for a week’s luncheons at a we’ll known American diner if covid has gone! Almost 2 years since a McD******s.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

December 22, 2021 at 11:10 am #172230My other half was saying we only got the one payment and its easy to remember that because its such a pain going to the bank to deposit a cheque then I remembered on the second payout they were encouraging us to open an online Motability account where we could enter our bank details and sure enough the second payment went straight into the bank.
Got a massive AP and adaption charges to pay late Spring so another payment is very handy.

Our second payment was via BACS and I have a vague recollection that we might have had the first one as a cheque, but we’ve checked both bank accounts and cannot find the first £50, hence my question about when exactly it was issued so that I can narrow down the search!

Unfortunately Motability annuonced the first refund on their ‘Covid Update’ page – which has subseqiuently been amended several times and the information subsequently removed.
Fortunately, at the time, I copied the text across to this forum on 28th April 2020 (which was the day it was promulgated on the Motability website):
From the Motability website – lattest Covid-19 Update:
With less traffic on the roads as a result of the lockdown, will I be eligible for a refund from my Scheme insurance?
Yes, as lockdown has led to fewer drivers on the road, the Scheme is seeing a lower level of claims, enabling it to share a windfall with customers. We have made this decision in consultation with Motability, the Charity. As a result, we are set to send an insurance-based refund of £50 to every car and Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle customer.
There is no need for customers to contact us in connection with this insurance refund, as we will automatically issue this payment as soon as possible from the second half of May.

All of these first rebate payments were by cheque, sent out on or after mid May 2020.

Easy to find deposits as there are very few of them whereas withdraws are many.?
