Mini have released that they’ll stop making the current f56 mini in March next year, that might be a factor?
I contacted another dealership and within an hour they called me and I have a test drive next week,they will try to get a manual to test as well as the auto but it may be difficult to find one..I may ask to test drive a JWC GP if they can’t find a manual ?.
…oops ? haha, na I’ve not really hammered it , a few times I’ve game it a wee squirt in sport but it hits 70 so quickly even put it in green mode the other night to see what that was all about I’ve done about 600 miles now , I could quite easily go a drive in it every day sitting behind the wheel is a great place to be, it feels and looks very premium , I’ve never had so many compliments about any car I’ve had half the size of my usual cars but more than double the fun it’s great to read the posts from members who have one cos I know the lift it’s given me over the last couple of weeks , I’m usually a glass half empty type guy , but I’ve honestly nothing negative to say about it ??

I haven’t read all of this thread, but just to say how refreshing it is to read about people getting such enjoyment from their cars, rather than being obsessed about cheap running costs! Long may you continue to have fun.

Nice one Ben, it’s a shame the manual is not available in premium plus. It’s a crap load of extras you miss out on. The auto sport box is really good though.
good luck on your test drive. ??Hi Mick,I think in America and Canada the premium plus pack is available in the manual.I’ve never driven an automatic before or a paddle shifter have nothing to compare it to.I guess you can use the auto pottering around town and the paddle shifter in sport mode.I would like to test drive a manual and auto but I don’t think that will be possible.
Hi Mick,Winston and other JCW owners..I had the test drive today of a JCW auto it wasn’t what I expected,I was rather nervous because I’ve never driven an automatic before,the test consisted of 5 minutes in a car park and 5 minutes on the road within a 30/40 mph speed limit.I don’t think the car got out of 3rd gear.
I traveled quite a long way to drive a car round the block because my local dealership stated they have withdrew the JCW from their list.I still haven’t tested a JCW manual none seem to be available.I don’t want to sign for anything until I’m happy with the car and it’s suitable and definitely not after 5 minutes driving(I spend more time deciding what KFC to order after the test drive than driving the car)
Is this normal for mobility customers to have this experience? I was told nothing about the car,the radio,sat nav,the spec etc while in the car,I didn’t get to see the boot or even the key.With one local dealership not replying to any message since December,another saying they can’t be bothered offering the JCW to any mobility customer and with today’s experience I get the impression dealerships don’t make much money on mobility cars.I was told I need to book another test drive if I wanted to drive the car again but travelling miles to drive round the block doesn’t seem to be worth it.

sounds like “one of those” dealerships. It happens sometimes. Some dealers are a bunch of mugs while others cannot do enough.
I’ve had 7 Motobility cars and in my experience the more affluent the area the dealership is located the worse the service you get. I know quite a few people have had bad experiences with dealers treating us disrespectfully. It’s all about the money for some people. But not all dealerships are like this.
5 minutes is no where near enough time to experience the JCW. For me the driving experience just gets better.
It’s 3 cars in one depending on driving mode and you need to experience all three.

Always book a test drive as a private customer thinking of buying one (technically true as who wouldn’t like to buy one with a lottery win)
No need to mention Motability at all as that has nothing to do with the test drive, if after having the drive you find yourself interested in ordering one then that’s the time to see what type of dealership it is when you ask about a Mota order.
My local Mini dealership has told me they’re not offering the JCW to motability customers,they are the only other dealership who has a JCW available to test drive.
I’m sorry to hear you’re having no luck mate , can’t believe you had 5 mins in a car park! Halfords would give you more time on a bike to try out never mind the time required to get to grips with a little sporty car
I got 4 hours in mines and was told just enjoy it, just do your normal day and have fun to see if I thought I could live with it

So it’s been great going for some drives and just enjoying the roads and scenery we have here – I’ve honestly just been cruising , music on and enjoying behind the wheel , no need to gun it , but flick it into sport and ooooft plenty there when you need it

I contacted another dealership ( they have a used one in) I was told they’re reached their quota for JCW and I have to find another dealer,I asked if I could test drive the JCW they have and said no.I contacted another dealership who said they would call me right away but I haven’t had a call back yet.

I just explained to the girl I was interested but was coming from a much bigger car and had all these reservations , she listened and suggested I come back in a couple of days and take her managers car which was a brand new JCW, they stuck me on their insurance and stuck half a tank of juice in it for me – honestly can’t fault the process
when I collected it she did say they had become very popular once the word got out and they had a 6 month wait ( I was just over 3 )
I know it’s a pain mate , but if you really want one and are used to a small car I’d just travel to any dealerships that sell mini rather than calling them ( if you’re able )
Cos I’ve never known a dealer to be quick at calling back…. If at all lol

Make melonade!So there’s been a massive delivery hold on all new Minis due to a faulty knock sensor, as this was the last year they are building the f56 this might be the end for motability orders until the new model is out next year?
Once they get the sensors fitted to the held stock, there might be a bunch suddenly available for immediate delivery? Who knows.
Its going to be slow either way.
Hi Winston,my test drive was canceled at the last minute(the staff member who’s car it was is away on a meeting?) and they didn’t suggest to book another one,I’ve contacted every dealer in the region now and I get the impression they don’t want to supply a JCW.I was told by one dealer the build quota is booked up for the year for their dealership,I called MINI UK they said build quotas are updated every month,they said there’s a 16 week wait but maybe longer and the spec may change if the chips are not available.one dealership said 16 weeks wait another said a year.
Jeez they ain’t making it easy for you mate ??♂️
I guess you just need to keep plugging away if you really want the car until you find a decent dealer , who knows what will happen in July so maybe best get an order in somewhere to protect yourself ??

Make melonade!I called them today to book another test drive (at the place I had a test drive)but they never returned my call. I know what spec I would have and probably ordered the auto there and then,I don’t have a mobility car at the moment.
i have to say winston having watched your video a couple of times your colour scheme is growing on me.
my two minis have been brg so i was firmly in the green camp and would go for the rebel green with black wheels. but as i am just starting a lease in a juke i will have to wait 3yrs lol.
who knows the ap might come down.
it was just out of my reach this time unfortunately or i would have had one or another countryman.

Thanks mate, I was very anxious over my colour choices as collection date got closer but I was more than pleasantly surprised when I saw it in the flesh with the red being a bit darker than I thought it was ??
I’ve honestly never had so many compliments of any car I’ve had before
I don’t think there is a bad or wrong colour choice as it such a quirky good looking little motor
I’m really impressed how premium it feels in the cabin – very happy with my choice
hopefully by the time you go to renew the scheme is back to having a couple of thousand cars to chose from again and we aren’t all blown up in WW3 ???

Sorry to hear about all the hassle you’re having Ben, my next move would be a lengthy email to a mini dealership general manager highlighting what a complete lack of even basic customer service, let alone an attempt by any to go an extra millimetre, to.make sure you they get your business. Clowns all of them. Good luck my friend.
