If APs are dropping dramatically in the new quarter, particularly with BEVs as seems may be the case taking the ID.4 as an example, for those who have placed an order but are still waiting for the car, would you ask your dealer to modify the order with Motability (leaving the order with the manufacturer unchanged) or accept that it’s just bad luck and leave everything as is? If the dealer agreed to make the change, is it a black mark on your Motability record?

Ask!
My dealer expected me to ask. Said they are not allowed to contact us and tell us about AP changes but happy to do it if asked as it’s only a 5min job.
December 31, 2023 at 9:08 pm #252837Would think it todays financial climate its just common sense to ask your dealer to adjust your order on their system. Who wants to pay more for anything if there is a way to make a saving?
December 31, 2023 at 9:43 pm #252839Yes folks just ask. I did when the Enyaq changed and the dealer reduced the AP by 1100. Takes them a few minutes.
January 1, 2024 at 12:51 am #252844Absolutely agree with all of the above comments. Changing the AP on the Motability system takes a few minutes, doesn’t affect what the dealer receives and has no affect whatsoever on the actual order. You’d be daft not to.
Not sure that I share the optimism that APs will drop drastically this quarter though. There will no doubt be one or two nice surprises, a few disappointments and an awful lot of business as usual!
January 1, 2024 at 6:52 pm #253037I upgraded from Xperience Ateca and ordered the Auto Ateca Xperience Lux on 30th. I’ve emailed the dealer to ask if the AP can be changed to save the extra £100.
<p style=”text-align: center;”>I’m tempted by lots of other cars, but I don’t have off street parking for an electric car. I like the big boot, the 360° camera, and the self parking is now a necessity. This has thankfully restricted the cars I can consider. It has lots of nice extras, especially when AP is working out at less than £1800 now.</p>January 1, 2024 at 7:32 pm #253046Definitely ask. I always make the mb salesman aware when ordering that if it goes up it’ll stay fixed but if it goes down I’ll expect it to be matched. They’ve always agreed with a “why wouldn’t you?” attitude.

The AP on my BMW dropped £100 after I ordered it. As it was such a small amount I didn’t bother to ask them, especially as they’d already given me £500 off the AP and 15% off the optional extras, but they called me to say that they had done it anyway without me even asking. The comment was “better in your pocket than Motability’s”.
January 1, 2024 at 7:49 pm #253051SEAT haven’t offered any extra discounts. It was all ordered via email. I haven’t been in to the showroom yet, except to see the demo car. They’ve been closed today as well
January 1, 2024 at 8:49 pm #253059Thanks all. The concensus seems to be to ask which was pretty much as I expected. £500 off the Audi Q4 so I’ll get in touch with the dealership in the next day or two and request they redo the order.

I emailed my dealer this morning to ask them to amend the paperwork to reflect a £550 AP reduction.

Minor point, but it’s not the paperwork, it’s the Motability online order system that they have to amend. They have to ‘cancel’ your order on the Motability system and then request approval for a new order for the same car, which will automatically be at the lower AP. That’s the only way that you’ll get the lower AP. Of course, none of this affects the actual order, which is between the dealership and the manufacturer.

????
I did request them to send me the amended paperwork showing the reduced AP. The cancellation of the order and placement of the new order, should trigger a new set of paperwork from Motability, the Dealership also has to send me an amended instruction for payment of the reduced AP amount, to them, to be made prior to the pick up of the new car.
I emailed the dealership so there’s a record of my request and the email has read receipt attached.

January 2, 2024 at 9:43 am #253122I recived an email from the dealership this morning confirming that the reduced AP has been actioned against my order, I checked my account on the Motobility site and it does show the reduced AP.
Very prompt action by the Dealer, very well done by them and much appreciated by me, a £550 saving.

January 2, 2024 at 9:49 am #253125I emailed my dealer yesterday so they’ll have it this morning.
To be honest I’ll be very surprised if they do it. Took a few calls and a couple of visits to get it done last time.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Excellent and just as it should be. Well done.

Absolutely no excuse for them not to do it. Takes a couple of minutes only and doesn’t cost them a penny. Fingers crossed for you.
