Just been informed by a Tesla member of staff whilst charging that all Tesla superchargers are going back to only Tesla’s from the 1st November 🙄🙄

I can’t see that happening, how would a random member of staff now that. Tesla are notorious for dropping bomshell announcements via a press release, not telling service engineers first. Have you seen how empty some supercharger locations are, we were at Amesbury around 11.30am on a Monday in September, 16 Superchargers and never more than 3 being used, at one point we were the only ones there.
October 8, 2024 at 11:01 am #290482A member of staff, I’m guessing that’s someone there to fix a charger or was it just a Tesla driver annoyed that others are using the superchargers 🤔
Of course Elon does work in strange ways but I’d be calling 🐂💩 on that story 😂
October 8, 2024 at 11:09 am #290485Don’t shoot the messenger guys the guy walked out of the showroom with Tesla uniform on I’m just passing the info on 🙏🏼 that it don’t happen but according to him from the 1st nov there stopping it whether that’s just Cardiff my area or across the uk
October 8, 2024 at 11:33 am #290491More likely they are closing a particular location, they always said they’d monitor usage on ones open to all. But given the way Tesla work they’re more likely to add more chargers to a location if it gets busy.

It’s not you but this story has appeared a few times on EV forums, probably started by disgruntled Tesla owners annoyed at having to share the chargers.
A lot of Tesla chargers have just increased their prices, imagine if they were to lose all the extra income from non Teslas… plus didn’t this all start because the EU told them it’d need to be open to all and payable by contactless 🤔
October 8, 2024 at 1:17 pm #290507I’ve just subscribed for a month and they are still offering yearly subscriptions for £90.
October 8, 2024 at 6:55 pm #290547Absolute rubbish. The Tesla app still shows the available chargers for non-tesla cars.
What are Tesla gonna do, remove the CCS plugs and retrofit Tesla points??
Not gonna happen. Some not too bright people will believe all sorts of nonsense on social media instead of mainstream news channels.
October 8, 2024 at 7:11 pm #290550Tesla have moved over to CCS, it supports faster charging speeds.
October 8, 2024 at 7:45 pm #290558Enough with the not to bright comment Ioniq really not needed all I’m doing is passing on information I received whilst charging my car this morning from a Tesla member of staff after telling me he then approached a Volvo ex30 and a Cupra born who were also charging
October 8, 2024 at 8:02 pm #290563I wonder if it could be that Tesla are reviewing which stations will offer universal charging. Perhaps the one you were charging at will move to Tesla only as at 1st November.
October 8, 2024 at 9:24 pm #290566Tesla have reversed, the “charge for all” at a london hub, can’t remember which one, so it can be done if, the supercharger gets too busy, with non tesla cars.
October 8, 2024 at 9:30 pm #290568They have also, had a significant price increase on “open to all” Tesla chargers, price of the monthly subscription remains unchanged

That was not aimed at you Theo2017, not at all.
It is the generations we have now that just use social media as a source.
Logically, why would Tesla not make money charging other cars? Financially, charging will earn more than selling Tesla cars.
Even though the cost of using tesla chargers has recently went up, they are still cheaper than the competition.

Tesla recently announced that the chargers at their service centre in Tottenham, London will revert back to Tesla only. These were one of the first lot to be opened to all.
This is the only place (so far?) reverting back and seemingly it’s to provide a better service to their sales & service teams.

Posted on Facebook.
October 9, 2024 at 8:50 am #290594Seems curious:
October 9, 2024 at 3:11 pm #290641Pcp, tesla subsidy perhaps? 12months up front. Been loads of deals from tesla, £299. Last month.
October 26, 2024 at 12:42 pm #292387Update!!!! Just been to Tesla and charged they have extended the use of there chargers to non Tesla’s to November 24th but he also said that every charging company is going to be a chip and pin by uk law and there scrapping the apps altogether 🤷🏻♂️
October 26, 2024 at 3:33 pm #292398Thats more like it!
I have setup the Tesla App and never used it for charging.
Its just Tesla catching up with UK Regulations and installing chip an pin for non tesla cars.
Next generation Tesla charging is a pop up wireless charging pad. That will make a difference, not dealing with plugs and cables.
October 26, 2024 at 4:02 pm #292400I’ve charged at Tesla 6 times since we got the car 6 weeks ago. It’s really easy, I subscribed for £8.99 for our last trip to Cornwall and used Lifton twice, Cambourne once and Gloucester Northbound once, price with member discount was between 40p and 43p per KWh. Just plug in and select the charger number in the app and it automatically starts the charge and takes the payment.
Wanted to charge at Gloucester Southbound on the way there but it was full of Tesla’s so had to use Swarco ultrafast which charged at 135kw and was only 64p, there were 8 of them and only 3 being used.
November 18, 2024 at 2:12 pm #293509New regulations apply 24th Nov whereby all new public chargers 8KW+ need a contactless payment method Existing chargers too 50KW +
the regulations came in last year but operators had a years grace to comply
Tesla V4 chargers support contactless so should be OK – but V2 and V3 chargers dont and are still the majority in the UK
Tesla may get a pass as are the biggest/cheapest operator. We’ll know in a week
