Mobility car stolen off the drive, all keys in house. Reported to police and got crime number. Phoned RSA insurance closed but logged it and said would call back tomorrow with more details.

So what happens now? I know alot of ifs and buts but what is everyone elses experience?

Daughter is the person who has mobility car, I m her appointee as doesnt drive, but my parents are main drivers and take her everywhere in the week whilst im at work.

Can see time span is 21 days from theft so if not found will they give courtesy car as cant be without one?

Only had since September and was lucky to get this one as in showroom otherwise 3 month wait.

Cant be without car for that long.

Advice please.

I expect your car will turn up in a couple of weeks. I had a car stolen around 8 years ago, I saw it for sale on Autotrader, reported to police, they tried to contact the seller to view it but got nowhere. Two weeks later I got a call from plod saying they had it. Someone bought it, tried to register with DVLA and got a nasty surprise.

What happens now is you contact Motability who will take the matter in hand and arrange a hire car.  As Jojoe says, with luck it will turn up soon.

I called RSA but not mobility. Should I phone mobility tomorrow as well? RSA are calling back tomorrow as “closed ” today. Did what mobility website said. ?

RSA should handle everything but I think you should emphasise you need a car straight away for the reasons you’ve given.

Try going direct to Motability, they can arrange hire cars, they arranged an adapted one for my missus whilst hers was being stuck in the garage awaiting a part.

Update on stolen car took 9th july.

RSA wrote it off on 1st august as it was not recovered by police, and 21 days had passed.

Courtesy car was delivered on the Tuesday after it was reported stolen. We are currently keeping this until we take delivery of a new car.

I got just over £600 back from the advanced payment as car lease was started October and paid a AP of £799.

Good to see its all sorted for you but its the inconvenience that takes it toll.

These little tow-rags will get a little slap on the wrist if ever there was the slightest chance of catching them. As they say” The UK polices everything except crime”.

The long long wait for another car begins, if indeed you can find a suitable one.

A quick question- do you get to keep 3 weeks pip money whils’t your without your car or a hire car?

No didnt get any pip returned as car stolen saturday 9th July. Phoned RSA on the 10th but was just skeleton staff. Monday 11th RSA phoned back as i had reported it on the sunday for more details.  Because there was a problem with their payment system couldnt pay the excess so was after 4pm before hire car was authorised, so came on the tuesday. Was without a car for the Sunday and Monday so PIP is taken still for the hire car.

In regards to new car i phoned dealer up as it was due for a service. The motability salesman phoned me and said he had taken delivery on the Tuesday of a car originally for the showroom. Could not let anyone have for 45 days as thats their company policy so he was happy to reserve and hold pending whether it was recovered by police. Obviously because it hasnt been recovered it will be ours so application has gone through and all being well pick up 1st September.
