I agree, some great prices on both the enyaq and Ionic 5.
Pity the ev6 gt line hasn’t come down.
I’m still angling towards ordering the enyaq sportline 80x in race blue with maxx package and teanspirt package and sunroof.
Was tempted by the ionic 5 ultimate plus, but still the enyaq edges it for me currently
October 1, 2023 at 4:46 pm #235733The Enyaq 80 Sportline Plus coupe has no rear wiper! 🙁
The standard Enyaq 80 Sportline Plus is only £2099, the 80x (4wd) is £2499, same car with a bit more boot/rear passenger room and a rear wiper 😀
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
October 1, 2023 at 5:01 pm #235742I think with the price of the Enyaq 80x being what it is now, I’ll be ordering one of those. I just need to decide which pack to add. It’s killing me not to order the i4 but my body keeps telling me no.
October 1, 2023 at 5:05 pm #235746In my testing, the i4 was not in the same region as the enyaq and ionic 5 in terms of space, accessibility and overall comfort.
The fact I couldn’t get into the cack seats was the final straw for me.
October 1, 2023 at 5:05 pm #235747The Sportline Plus already has the Clever and Plus packages added as standard. I added the Advanced package as I wanted the canton sound system, HUD and the heated windscreen.
I also tried ID.4 and also found the seats in that pretty poor as well. Audi Q4 was better but the cabin felt cramped.

That surprised me with all the coupes, the Enyaq, the id5, the ev6,ntge i4 and the ionic 5 don’t have rear wipers, though there are rumours hyubdai will add it in the next dacelift.
Very strange for the type of weather we have here
October 1, 2023 at 5:23 pm #235755I honestly thought we’d never see the likes of the MX5 and Golf GTD return to the scheme but I am pleased that they have.
GTD looks a no brainier if you were considering an R Line as I think it’s a £300 difference in ap.
I’d love an mx5 but I tried to get in and out of one a couple of years ago and it was embarrassing ?

the new done to be released sporty and fast hyundai Ioniq 5 N has a rear wiper. so i think you’re right it come in to the 2025 normal ioniq 5
if you don’t need the enyaq estate, the enyaq coupe has a panoramic roof as standard i think
October 1, 2023 at 5:31 pm #235759slightly ginger
i was very surprised when i drove the ioniq 5 on a 2 hours test drive how smooth and refined it is. and how small it seems for a big car. you don’t feel intimidated by the size of it. it feels like it shrinks around you. the power delivery is a lot smoother than my current Kona. so will have to get used to that. also i’m averaging 4.9 miles per kwh. i’ve put on 42,000 miles on it in the time i’ve had it.
October 1, 2023 at 6:50 pm #235792Certainly there has been some positive movement in APs on a few EVs, which is good news for those that want one, and it’s nice to see a few pocket rockets for the tiny proportion of disabled people who would find them big enough for their needs.
For the rest of us, I’m afraid that Q4 is a non-event. I’m glad that we have two more quarter changes before we can order, as there’s nothing I’d be rushing out to order tomorrow if we were able.
October 1, 2023 at 6:53 pm #235793All in all £ for £ the Megan Iconic now at £995 must be the best deal out there
Thats unless you know otherwise
October 1, 2023 at 6:57 pm #235795The AP for top spec MX5 should realistically be below £2000 imo
Time will tell

I would always define the best deals as being the cars with the lowest outlay (sacrificed benefits plus AP) as a percentage of the retail price.
As the sacrificed benefits for PIP recipients is around £11,500 over 3 years, regardless of what car you order, as a general rule it usually means that the best value cars are the ones with the highest retail prices and the worst value ones are those with the lowest retail prices.
I think the Megane Iconic is around £42k, so with an AP of £995 added to the PIP sacrificed, you are paying around 30% of the cost of the vehicle which, by Motability standards, is pretty good. As to how that compares to others I’ve no idea ?
October 1, 2023 at 7:47 pm #235800I expected big changes this quarter but, all in all have come away rather deflated!
October 1, 2023 at 8:04 pm #235803Hyundai Ioniq 5 [tech] is a nice new addition at £3999. I’d previously ruled out the Ioniq 5 as items we need were only available on the top trim which Motability didn’t offer. When you factor in a ‘free’ EV charger, if you can have one, that’s a very decent EV at £2999. If you can have a charger at home, and can get a good EV tariff, don’t do many miles per journey, that car *should* save you good money on fuel costs over a 3-year lease.

Agreed. At around the £2k mark it would have been affordable. Sadly, at double that, it’s out of my reach.
Shame.

Burgerman I agree, going to have a test drive and see what we think. £995 – £750 new car payment makes it abit of a bargain IMO. Usually I’d probably be seriously looking at the Enyaq AWD now, but to be honest after several big cars over the last few years something a bit smaller sounds appealing, especially after having to park my Tiguan Allspace in an underground carpark in London a few weeks ago!
The main thing that concerns me, and it may sound silly, is on a lot of EV’s there doesn’t seem to be much protection against kerbing the wheels, as they seem flush with the tyres, I assume for ‘efficiency’. Getting nearly run off the road last week by an idiot on the wrong side of the road resulted in me hitting a kerb, but with the balloon type tyres on the Tiguan there was no damage.October 2, 2023 at 6:35 pm #236046Hyundai Ioniq 5
239kW Premium 77 kWh 5dr AWD Auto [Part Leather] 321 bhp for £3999 has outstanding performance 0 – 60 in 5.1 sec!If I didn’t have a BMWi4 35 sport on order that would be my 2nd choice.
2024 - KIA EV6 GT Line AWD
2019 - 2024 BMW X1 2.0d X Drive Sport Auto

A few years ago I did start to run this exact experiment, at the time it was the Ford Galaxy.
I will try to find the time to do it again.
October 3, 2023 at 9:46 am #236129It’s good to take the £750 new car payment into accout too though, which then makes the top spec Megane £245 AP which is a bargain this quarter.

I find it to be the most relevant calculation when determining ‘value’ as opposed to price. I used it to work out that it would cost less to run our current BMW X1 through Motability than buying a new one privately, as it was also around 30%.
The higher the percentage the less beneficial the Motability deal becomes, which is why the higher value cars on the scheme usually offer the best value, even with some of the high APs. Unfortunately, many of the lower value cars, even with no or low AP can be much cheaper to run privately than through Motability, especially if you can buy rather than lease, but I appreciate that’s not an option for many people.
October 3, 2023 at 9:54 am #23613430% is an excellent figure. In the older days they used to say you loose 10% just driving a new car off the forecourt.
