Hi Mfillingham
Ha ha yep – but we are lucky we have the scheme – totally different to buying a car – only 3 years and no worries about depreciation – Elroq will be my 7th car and the only time I have had to go over 3 years was because of Covid and the extended delivery times for my current Kona.
However if I was happy with my car and there was nothing on the quarter on 3 years that rocked my world – I would extend the 3 years and wait for a quarter with a car that suited – how much longer have you got on your current lease 😁👍

I can order from November ’26 current lease ends 1 Feb ’27. I agree, without the scheme I’d be living in fear of something needing repairing, especially as whatever I’d be driving would be significantly older.
You do realise a default 3 year lease isn’t an option now?

Not sure what you meant – elaborate please

Sorry, wrong word made that much less clear than I intended.
There’s no longer an option to extend for 3 years unless the car fits some rather strict criteria. The best you’ll get straight up is 3 months unless you’re waiting for a car that’s been ordered and will take longer to arrive.

June 16, 2025 at 7:12 pm #306705So a roll of the dice to see if the next quarter is better – I wonder how many gamblers there are on the scheme 😂👍
June 17, 2025 at 3:25 pm #306784Hi Mark – I know you have made an early start on trying to choose your next car – as you may remember I swop out my car at the end of July and it will be my seventh.
I find it best to start to look the quarter before the quarter you can order – there are so many changes on the scheme – especially now with the rapid development of EVs in terms of battery and range.
The ionic 5 was on my short list along with scenic and new Kona – I was put off the ionic 5 because of its very large turning circle – the scenic was tempting because of heat pump but I realised that could be balanced against speed of charge.
The Elroq 85 sportline maxx ticked most boxes and won the race.
Maybe worth looking at what new EVs are becoming available in the UK this year and hope they are on the scheme – but I suspect with the time frame you are on there will be new EVs that you will want to add to your short list that aren’t even available yet.
Good Luck 😁👍
June 17, 2025 at 3:37 pm #306787@Tillyman, thank you. Unfortunately, autism means I have to have a data proven decision to be confident it’s a good one. I’m used to having a lengthy process to whittle down my criteria and options, which the Mrs can find frustrating but it does prove itself as we’ve not regretted a decision made this way, whereas the same can’t be said for those where haste was a key driver.
There’s a few other benefits to taking such time, I’ll be able to see movements in AP and what’s on/off scheme for the cars I’m watching over this period, which could prove interesting. I’ll also be keeping an eye on new cars, whether they’re likely to join the scheme or not.

June 17, 2025 at 3:50 pm #306789If it helps – I drive my wife nuts reading and watching reviews and often numerous test drives – and I have no excuse 😂😂👍
June 17, 2025 at 10:55 pm #306801I get you. I’m the same, I always thought of it as a trait of OCD though. When I commit to something I study it as much as possible, quite the perfectionist. No harm in doing it.
June 21, 2025 at 4:56 pm #306979Hi Gordon – hope you are well and still enjoying your new Elroq.
Question please – do you use the Škoda app and if so how are you finding it .
There appear to be mixed views but I know sometimes these things can vary from model to model and the specifics you require.
Five weeks Monday and counting 😂
Thanks 😁👍
June 23, 2025 at 9:41 am #307040Hi Tillyman,
Not too long now for you!
In answer to your question, I do use it occasionally, although really only to see how my charge is progressing but it does have a useful option to lock the car remotely. I live in the middle of nowhere and often forget to lock the car. It is also easy to see things such as the total mileage and when the next service is due. Other than that I don’t use it much at all. It displays everything about your car and has a built in manual.
I need to look at it in more depth as I’m struggling to get the voice assistant to respond properly in the car. It’s called ‘Laura’ or ‘Skoda’ but for some weird reason, seems to hate my voice and ignores me at every opportunity! Lol. I ended up really shouting the commands in frustration but to no avail. I’ll get it sorted I’m sure.June 23, 2025 at 10:04 am #307041Thanks for the reply – do you use it remotely to defrost the car – I’m guessing you may have had the odd frost since you have had it.
A serious suggestion – do you have a strong accent and if so – can you fake a posh English – there are lots of uses of voice recognition now – for instance I often use it to search for a program on TV and often have to say it again in a slightly different way because it thinks I have said something quite different – it would be good to get it working properly – I know sometimes owners like to use it for things that are not physical buttons ie heating – good luck 😁👍
June 23, 2025 at 11:06 am #307043Ha ha ha, good suggestion. Despite being Scottish, I’ve aquired a fairly posh English accent so I can’t really blame that, although there might be a slight West Country accent now. I’m going to work on it. It ignored me completely when I used ‘Laura’ and responded once with ‘Skoda’ but not after that.
interestingly I’ve tried the TV remote and it’s doesn’t respond at all, so now I’m thinking it’s me. I’ll have to try an extremely well spoken accent and see how I go. It would be good to use it as I don’t want to be distracted with driving. Apart from that, I’m loving the car and lots of people stop to look at it and ask me questions about it.
June 23, 2025 at 11:33 am #307044If you set a custom wake phrase the AI thing seems to work more reliably. The wife wasn’t too happy when I woke it with “Oi ma bitch” it did work every time. Once I got out of hospital I changed it back.
I will say this though don’t forget the wake phrase is “Okay Laura” just in case i’m sure you know that anyway. I’ve seen quite a few getting irate on Facebook especially with her and they’re just saying Laura at her with the default settings

June 23, 2025 at 12:56 pm #307056Good point about “okay Laura” – many vids and reviews just say – Laura or Škoda – I suspect the majority of owners read the manual as a last resort – as for your changed name – you’re a braver man than me 😂👍
June 29, 2025 at 12:05 pm #307382Hi all – 4 weeks tomorrow until expected delivery – but more importantly I have been told car is built and at a German port waiting to be shipped – so at the moment it is looking like it could all go to plan.
I am aware that many deliveries of different cars are experiencing delays so I was trying to remain phylisophical – my current Kona was delayed by 5 months due to Covid – so the experience would not be new to me.
I hope all of you currently in possession of the Elroq are enjoying your cars – I am certainly looking forward to mine – another 2 weeks and the excitement will kick in – big kid mode 😂👍
June 29, 2025 at 7:49 pm #307399I remember our long waits for the Kona, this time round, a lot better. My Enyaq is due to be built this week, and, like you, I am hoping to collect in a month. Which colour did you opt for, and which trim/extras. The excitement does build during the last week or so. Good luck with it all.
June 29, 2025 at 8:26 pm #307402Timiani Green – 85 sportline maxx – so in my opinion the best deal of the choices – edition was more for less – don’t really understand that – supply and demand I suspect.
I seem to remember you favoured the x top spec – hope it all goes well – this will be my 7th – how many for you? 😁👍
June 29, 2025 at 9:32 pm #307405I went for the Sportline 85x Maxx, the additional features justified the additional cost. This will be no 8.
July 1, 2025 at 8:15 am #307500Q3 has come and the Elroq has gone.
July 1, 2025 at 8:43 am #307503Yep – was in 4th 24 – less choices 1st 25 – good choices 2nd and as you say now gone.
I was fortunate – I feel I have made a good choice that works for my wife and I – but time will tell.
Having a look through the EVs this morning, there was nothing that leaped out at me as ticking my boxes at a good price – I would probably go for the Enyaq even tho I suspect my wife would find it too big.
So just have to wait 4 weeks and hope there are no delays – built and at German port now so all looking good – just need to try hard not to be smug 🤔😳😂
July 1, 2025 at 10:25 am #307518Delighted you have got the car you wanted. The way Motability works, it could be back on in a few days. The AP on mine has risen by £700 this quarter.
July 1, 2025 at 10:47 am #307530Yes I noticed the Enyaq had increased as well – the nearest at the moment to the Elroq is probably the Kia ev3 – but 3 times more expensive – the ionic 6 looks good value but too low for me – but as you say – the beginning of a new quarter often takes a couple of weeks to settle – sounds like you are getting your car at a similar time to me – end of July – we can swop gloats 😂😂👍
July 1, 2025 at 11:14 am #307538Spoke with dealer today, build has started but can take up to 2 weeks, then 3 weeks to arrive in UK. I think I am looking at mid August, and if that’s the case, with plans made for the last 2 weeks in August, may take in early September.
July 1, 2025 at 11:53 am #307541I read somewhere but can’t remember where that the Elroq will be gone for this entire quarter. It’s selling so phenomenally well across all of Europe I suspect it’s to do with build and delivery timescales.
