I must admit that any range anxiety has now gone compared to my previous Renault Zoe which is a great relief as I’m often having to drive to Aberdeen which is 150 mile round trip from home and it does it all with ease.
Are you using the 4 digit pin to start the car? I set it up with the salesman as he went through everything, it just means no speedy getaways lol.
I do have to turn off the lane assist feature most times as I’m in such a rural location that you can’t often stick to your own side as the roads are too narrow and it’s quite unnerving if it starts wobbling in the path of an oncoming distillery tanker.
It makes driving so much easier and comfortable and you’ve got the added benefits of lots of extras too compared to my Edition 85. Most people who stop you in car parks and want to know your experience with the Elroq usually always compliment the cars colour too.
July 31, 2025 at 3:29 pm #310702Yes – salesman was very good – set up Škoda app pin etc – so on entry I get a polite greeting – also set up apple car play – I like there navigation system – also Amazon music with all my playlists – classic rock goes well with sportline 🎶 🎸 🪘 👍
August 1, 2025 at 11:34 am #310744Sportline and Paddles
Been out this morning trying to use and understand the regenerative paddles.
On my Kona there was 3 levels of braking – left paddle on – right paddle off.
My understanding is all Elroq models have B mode ie regenerative braking on – this is not as strong as the Kona was.
The sportline has paddles like the Kona when it is in normal drive mode – they are not as strong as the Kona – level 3 being the same strength as B mode – I cannot find a way of making a chosen level stay on – hence they are effectively a hand braking regenerative device.
Consequently I cannot see a reason not to just keep it in B – presumably that will also be the most efficient, irrespective of driving style.August 1, 2025 at 5:18 pm #310757From what’s been said about other VW group EVs B mode around town but not on a run where you’re sitting at a relatively steady speed.

August 1, 2025 at 5:30 pm #310758It will be at least a month or so before I get a better sense of what works best for me – but already I can tell that any range anxiety will be lessened.
I won’t be sat at 65 on a long run to Cornwall – I will be having a/c based on comfort not battery usage etc etc 👍August 1, 2025 at 5:36 pm #310759That’s what’s most important. There’s a point, that’s different person to person, where you don’t have to think about how far you have to go and how much battery you need and start to just drive and enjoy that experience. The first thing I did, as soon as the opportunity arose was to go as far as the battery and my nerve would allow. I got from Camborne, Cornwall to Fleet Services, M3 in Hants with 43 miles remaining. That’s 243 miles without a charge or taking any particular battery saving measures. I could have turned off the air con and roasted and dropped the speed to 65 or even 60 and gone much further but that wasn’t the test. What was clear is that the charging stop was my 2nd stop and could have been my 3rd if there was suitable services to stop at. So, the car goes at least twice as far as I can go in it.

August 1, 2025 at 5:45 pm #310761Yep – it is the total mix – the other plus factor is the Elroq 85 is capable of charging much quicker than my Kona did and it will be interesting to see what noticeable difference the pre conditioning of the battery makes on a cold day – it can be started about 20 mins out from charging station – I will only ever top up the mileage I need and a bit more to be safe and charge cheaply at home or destination 👍
August 2, 2025 at 9:35 am #310770Gordon or anyone else who knows the answer.
So wanted to get ahead of the game for if I ever have a puncture – chances are I will ring for assistance – however I cannot find a repair kit – does the Elroq come with one and where is it – suspect it is me being stupid – but I have had the boot floor up and looked in side compartments – there are cables nets hammocks etc – but I cannot see repair kit or pump – thanks 👍

Like you, noticing subtle differences between the Enyaq and Kona. Due a long run thus weekend, 280 miles, so interested to see economy and speed of charging. Hope your Elroq is everything you hoped for
August 2, 2025 at 4:50 pm #310778Hope your long run goes well fwippers – so far Elroq is exceeding expectations – much easier to get in and out – the seat memory works really well.
The repair kit is missing – so going back next week to get it – any excuse to drive it at the moment 😂👍
August 3, 2025 at 6:27 pm #310810I was reading the post about the Enyaq and issues with key fob – I picked up my Elroq on Wednesday and I have noticed when the key is in my faraday pouch and pouch in my pocket – I have to get much closer to the door for it to work – much weaker signal than my Kona – not sure if they did battery on service – I wonder if it is a deliberate ploy to make cloning more difficult??
August 4, 2025 at 1:17 pm #310821Hi Tillyman,
Do you know, I’m afraid I’ve not even checked but I should. The weather is wild right now but as soon as the storm abates I will go and have a look. I thought the salesman said it had one but I hadn’t checked. I did find the ice scraper built into the boot and the umbrella tucked into the door. Having an emergency repair kit could prove handy, especially where I live.
August 4, 2025 at 1:46 pm #310823Hi Gordon – thanks for reply – no it is definitely missing – I just need to go back and they will give me one – apparently it’s a black L shaped bag – salesman sent me a picture.
Hope the bad weather up there abates soon – 40mph gusts here in Surrey, but I understand it can be 80mph in Scotland – when you next look in your boot – on the right hand side I have an elasticated strap and I’m fairly sure that is where it is housed.
Stay safe 👍
August 4, 2025 at 2:41 pm #310825Thanks Tillyman, I can’t believe I diddnt look. I had the charge cable and a small cardboard box in the glove box which I’m assuming might be the locking wheel nuts. I’ll go and have a look as soon as I can. I’m surrounded by mature trees and I can see them thrashing around in the wind at the moment so I’m just hoping for no damage.
August 4, 2025 at 3:11 pm #310826I’ve just managed to brave the elements and thankfully it’s there, under the boot flap in the recess.
August 4, 2025 at 3:14 pm #310827Glad you found it – I wonder if the boot layout of the edition and sportline are slightly different – or just a natural progression of design tweaks?
August 5, 2025 at 1:51 pm #310850First trip today involving motorway and 20mph zone – used ACC – very impressed – it picked out signs 70 – 50 and 20mph and adjusted speed accordingly – should make life easier on a long trip – this was only a 40 miles round trip.
August 5, 2025 at 2:53 pm #310851Nice looking car. The Elroq was top of my initial research shortlist so sad to have seen it leave the scheme for now. Not due to start testing/ordering until Dec though so chance it might be back. Enyaq, Explorer, Capri and Ariya are current shortlist with hope of R4 entering the fray.
August 5, 2025 at 3:05 pm #310852Hi Bandit – a lot of people that like the Elroq seem to like the Enyaq – I certainly looked at the Enyaq – it was good value last quarter when I ordered the Elroq.
The deciding factor for me was size and turning circle – 9.3m turning circle really makes a difference when parking in tight places and I didn’t need the extra size.
That seems to be the main difference – the inner cabin space layout and tech share a lot of similarities.
Although it isn’t on this quarter I will still share my experience and thoughts as promised – hopefully it will be back relatively soon – but winning various awards has made it very popular and I suspect they can get more money elsewhere than Motability.August 6, 2025 at 10:41 pm #310880I notice that the Elroq has been removed from the Motability scheme. Shame.
August 7, 2025 at 6:43 pm #310912Just charging car for first time – but still using ohme app – I will pay closer attention next time but although it’s still the same 7w charger – the speed of charging seems to be quicker than the Kona – at a guess I would say between 20 – 25% quicker – more efficient batteries- still being influenced by the 465 initial alleged miles – will pay more attention next time 😳 🫤

Home charging should in theory be the same. I noticed a huge difference at a fast charger, 125kWh, compared to 44kWh on the Kona.
August 7, 2025 at 11:16 pm #310930That was my understanding too – the other variable is ohme – I have noticed they appear to have the ability to charge at a lower rate – after I had made my post I noticed the app at one point was saying charging at 4 not 7 – maybe I just happened to select a time that hit the sweet spot – that’s how it works – so I plugged in about 2pm and said be ready by 9 am – the choices then as to how and when are left to ohme – hence the cheaper rate.
So maybe just coincidence – I am on a 250 mile round trip on Sunday – so will be charging back up late Sunday afternoon for 10 am Monday – so will pay more attention this time .August 8, 2025 at 1:58 pm #310951My Elroq has just left the factory so the excitement can officially start! Dealer says 4 to 5 weeks is the normal boat/import/delivery timeframe.
August 8, 2025 at 2:14 pm #310953Remember the feeling well – the – well it’s built and left so there shouldn’t be any problems now thoughts 😂
Then it’s – waiting at the dock to be shipped – that’s when you start looking at more YouTube on how to – use the paddles – ACC – linking phone etc etc – enjoy the excitement – it only gets stronger as the days and weeks go by – oh and then hours 🤔😳😂👍
