I know for some people it not just a choice and some need a certain type vehicle as transport, ie hoists to be fitted, ramps etc, we’re not at that stage yet so opens up I guess more choice.
However this choice for me is such a mine field.
Lots of different choice that lazily I’ve not kept up todate with, been to see a few cars available but tbh don’t like for what ever reason..
Think I’ll just go Volvo again, must be just age and lifestyle that’s brought me to such ignorance..
In reality I’d extend again and save the cost, even after 5 yrs..
Is it just me who feels such a dinosaur..😊😆

It’s strange how all our likes/dislikes differ @mitch, for me I’ve just never liked Toyota, however they’re said to be great cars, the think it’s chr way to busy looking for me on the outside, best of luck in the search..
My wife had a Toyota RAV-4 2.0i Auto that we bought new in 2002. She absolutely loved it and I liked driving it too. We kept it just over 10 years, which was a first for us! However, since being with Motability we’ve looked at the RAV-4 each time that we’ve changed and found it very easy to dismiss them. I cannot get beyond the cheap and plasticy interiors and the fact that their infotainment systems are woeful compared to their competitors. It’s a shame, because their hybrid systems are amongst the best out there, but they need to improve interior quality substantially and change infotainment supplier for us to consider them again.
August 14, 2025 at 10:34 am #311230Popping to Volvo later, test drive the Volvo black xc40 addition, don’t like the look of the seats at all, much prefer the plus pro with leather seats, not sure if the plus pro dark(option of blond leather) is on the scheme, also a slight confusion of the rear tinted windows
August 14, 2025 at 10:36 am #311231August 14, 2025 at 10:36 am #311232August 14, 2025 at 3:23 pm #311269Oh well, went to test drive a Volvo b4 black edition, none available so ended up driving a very basic xc40 which I found to be a total waste of time however, Mrs aj being polite proceeded with the test drive..
I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be a success when a lazy looking sales man appeared dragging his undone shoe laces behind him😳😆..
I mentioned your laces are undone watch you don’t trip, only to be told his feet are aching and he’s been laying down..
WOW I’d be sending him home on the sick, reminding him to arrive dressed appropriate for work..
Guess I’ll have to phone around see if I can get a test drive or maybe see the Xc40 pro plus dark..
Then option to change to blonde seats, and forest lake green as paint choice.
Shouldn’t be that difficult, at one stage he said the seat colour change would carry a cost of a £1000, it’s a free option on the plus pro b4 dark on the site..🤔
August 14, 2025 at 3:57 pm #311276Did you look at the Kodiaq?
August 14, 2025 at 4:10 pm #311277Tomorrow kezo, also we like to slightly smaller one down, if Kodiaq a bit awkward for Mrs aj
August 14, 2025 at 4:24 pm #311278Karoq!
BMW X1 worth a look , but will be bare compared to the Plus Pro.
August 14, 2025 at 5:26 pm #311280Kezo didn’t get to drive or see a plus pro none at Volvo, and apparently they don’t sell many pro plus xc40’s 🤔…
Reason being nobody wants to pay the few extra ££’s for the 360 cameras, dark rear windows, crystal gear shift, blonde lining, blonde leather upholstery (which he said is synthetic leather),🤔😉😆.
No electric passenger seat, another big X from us..
He had to leave the room to check on questions before replying, it’s at that stage I totally lost interest, might try else where or return asking for a different advisor..
August 14, 2025 at 5:39 pm #311281We’re away next week for a short break, plan was test drive a few, go away discuss, keep an eye out for the cars that grabbed our attention, after thinking it over come back order..
So on the list of xc40 would of been… B4 plus pro dark, changing to the option of the blonde lining interior, with blonde leather seats….
paint colour of forest lake green..
to me it’s on the scheme should be simple as that..

August 14, 2025 at 8:01 pm #311289Yeah same. Just not Volvos. 😀
That crystal knob is just beyond kitsch. But, each to their own. If you like that one, get that one. If there’s another car in the run and you can not decide, go to wheeldecide, put in your two choices and spin the wheel.

UPDATE…
Volvo has been in contact asking about the visit today..
Held no punches with the reply, however remained respectful with slight humour, simply asked can I just order what’s advertised, with free option to interior colour schemes, gave the model of the car were interested in and paint choice..
I’ll await the reply..🙄

Yesterday we test drove a SKODA
KODIAQ SE L TSI E-TEC 1.5Unfortunately not the plug in/petrol what we expected.
Helpful, joyful staff, great car, perfect weather, very impressive show room, all together great.
So back to the car, very impressed with the boot size, leg room, visual appearance and over all build quality.
What a great car, so glad we went.
However we had a 1/2 hour or so accompanied test drive, so as for entertainment systems wouldn’t have a clue due to eyes on the road.
it was nice to have some twisty controls which really are self explanatory, easy to hold, use and see (even in strong sunlight) due to being lit up, loved the twisties.
Great gear selector on the right side of the steering wheel and consist of a tilt forward/back again self explanatory to drive reverse etc, also freeing up room around the centre console, again lots of room there too.
Felt well built, lots and lots of space everywhere.
Huge forward screen again loved it.
Test drive is the typical set route, in which I drove one part, Wife drove back, on the switch over we managed a few reverse park practise for the Wife, which I must say went very well, massive fantastic camera view on screen with the bings bongs we all seem to hate.
The kodiaq even though very long over all compared to most scheme cars, looks and feel’s slender in width, for me a god sent for the Wife.
Seats fold down with on the 7 seater are flat to boot entrance (no lip) another big plus from us, however seats didn’t sit totally flat, slightly raised at the joints when folded down.
So all sounding good, apart from, would’ve liked a bit more time with the entertainment system (we were getting slightly tired by now due to scorching sun).
So conclusion, would I part with upto or over 4 grand AP..
Hhhhmmmm I’m uncomfortable with that tbh due to couldn’t really give it the beans with our very helpful guest in the back seat, but the 1.5 petrol seems underpowered through the early gears, could be wrong there, as I said didn’t really push it but gave the impression not much there if needed.
If I were going away on a trip would I enjoy the Kodiq yes 100%, would I choose it to travel, defo yes it’s a great, I think any disability aids, chairs, scooters etc can easily fit in the huge space provided by Skoda..
So do I want to drive it for 3 years I not to sure, undecided, and I think the AP is £1000 unjustified.
Well done Skoda, the slightly smaller Karoc ?, what a great car same engine so I guess wouldn’t feel underpowered for it size..
Any one thinking should I try Skoda, it’s on my list, imo defo yes.
August 16, 2025 at 9:03 am #311363Oh and these obviously get you where you need to go, but I feel the wheels let the look of the car down, very boring imo…
August 18, 2025 at 2:09 pm #311486Oh well, BMW phone call to rebook a later time for today due to staff shortage, can’t make the planned time so next week, due to our commitment’s.
If we go Volvo it’s this paint and interior we’d like to choose..
August 20, 2025 at 5:13 pm #311643The Omoda 9 is rumoured to be coming onto the scheme. PHEV with over 400hp so you shouldn’t have any problem with your beans. £3000 – 4000 AP
