Sainsbury’s has today launched Smart Charge, a brand-new, dedicated EV charging business that will give drivers access to ultra-rapid EV charging points across its stores. This bold move illustrates the retailer’s commitment to the EV industry while providing an exciting new service for drivers.

Smart Charge will initially feature over 750 cutting-edge ultra-rapid charging bays rolled out across more than 100 stores by the end of 2024, putting Sainsbury’s in the top five providers of ultra-rapid charging in the UK.

      Could be useful.

I read that earlier, good idea. There are more and more rapid chargers opening each day. We were worried about charging in Cornwall but Fastned have just opened a station with 6 rapid chargers in Camborne, a couple of miles up the road there’s  4 new ones at the Shell petrol station just outside Hayle.

The charging network is improving all the time.

If am out, I use ESB Energy 300Kw chargers. My local one has 4 chargers and 8 bays. I.ve only ever seen no more than one vehicle using them  and its always workies vans. But at 0.77/Kw its expensive. I guess that is why the bays are empty.

Iits improving all the time and once the big Supermarkets get in there, it will be a big improvement.

Oh come off it Ioniq, we all know the quality of electricity at the supermarkets will be nowhere near as good as the electricity from BP and Shell.

It’s them extra electrons they put in innit?

Not alot of charging stations, along the south coast or the m23, Shoreham area, apart from pease pottage or gatwick, very few in the Croydon/Sutton area, the Sainsbury in Sutton has some older style slow chargers, i hope they will be upgraded,  also hoping, Tesla will open the chargers at Airport House, along the purley way to all.in 2024. The chargers near the M&S at the purley way, are always busy and the car pack packed. It used to be a john lewis, before it closed.

                This is not just electrons.

                This is M&S Electrons…

But careful what supermarket charger you use, they may be bad for your EV, some may be contaminated with protons and neutrons.

Every little electron helps …. Cha-Ching…
