Silly question time  🙂

Anyone managed to reserve/order a car before their renwal date?

My renewal window starts April 13th, I’ve narrowed it down to 2 or 3 cars and will start looking at them/test driving in the next week or so.  I really like the look of the Mazda CX-5 Exclusive line but with the DAP that brings it to the very top of my price range (£2500).

With the AP’s changing on April 1st has anyone managed to get a dealer to hold a car at the current AP before being able to actually place the order?

I’ve ordered our last 3 Motability cars before our 3 month order window opens – in fact one was over 2 months early. You can only do this as a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with a willing dealer, as they take a risk that the car may be removed from the scheme by the time that your 3 month order window opens. Whilst what shows on the Motability system as an order isn’t actually an order at all, and is only admin, this can only be done when your official 3 month order window opens. You are then committed to the AP at that time, not the AP at the time that the dealer kindly ordered early for you. So ordering early gets you the car quicker, but doesn’t protect you against an AP increase.

Or vanish off the scheme entirely like the Kona did after I ordered early through a helpful dealer ?.

Ive done it once, where a Ford dealer was willing to put an order through 3 months prior to my renewal date, on the condition I didn’t want to order any factory fitted options. That was going back a good few years when times were normal though!
