I think so January 1st Q1 be very interesting they can’t sell electric cars so it’s great news for us they will offload them on to motability imho and I want one !

That would be nice to see but for models with extended delivery times do not see  that occuring. Would be great to see BMW i4 adding the M Sport onto the list though in my case.

          2024 - KIA EV6 GT Line AWD
          2019 - 2024 BMW X1 2.0d X Drive Sport Auto
          2017 -2019 Audi Q3 2.0d Quattro Sport Line Plus
          2005 - 2017 Honda CRV Exec 2.0d

Mercedes has already said the EV market is brutal for manufacturers!

Does that mean Merc will will put some of its EQ range of EV’s on the scheme. Probably not, there having a bad enough time as it is without being screwed  even further by motability, which to the manucturer makes the scheme one if not the most costly business manufacturers do due to the discounts the charity demands!

The EV side of things might be tough for manufacturers but, they aren’t going to give them away are they, hence why not all manufacturers offer vehicles to the scheme, hence have decided its better to sell them to the  retail market for better  margins. Even manufacturers that choose to use the scheme don’t offer prime stock, rather 9/10 cast offs that the retail market wouldn’t really want.

So I’m not going to be bulding my hopes up!

There’s an interesting write up in the Car Dealer magazine re Mobility & manufacturers etc.

What a surprise, the anti ev press lies.

SMMT, the body for automotive traders, shows BEV sales in September were 45,323, an increase from last year’s 38,115, an increase of 18.5%

Year to date BEV shows sales of 238,544, up from 175,614, an increase of 35.8%.

The point of the poster was not to slag EV’s off, rather would it mean more choice of electric vehicles on the scheme!

Of course your figurers look commending but, as always you miss the vital point. That is the market share they hold, which is currently 18%.

Fleets drive expansion during ‘new plate month according to the SMMT, with motorist support needed to reverse falling private consumer EV demand.

The 10 best selling cars this September:

                  Nissan Qashqai

                  Ford Puma

                  Kia Sportage

                  Ford Kuga

                  MG ZS

                  Hyundai Tuscon

                  Vauxhall Corsa

                  VW Polo

                  Nissan Juke

my comnent wasnt aimedcat the OP, rather the anti ec press who’s reporting is  biased against the ev market.

The fact of the matter is that ev sales are up on last year, yes, other power units are also up, but to say ev sales are down us incorrdct.

Yes, the government’s pronouncements On  ev change over is unwelcome within the Aito industry, as lije a super tanker, you can’t stop and change direction quickly.

With all the anti ev press reports in papers read by those who get a company car have had an effect, cementing nonsense like they can’t travel as far as a petrol car, the charging structure usnt there etc etc.

will more ev cars appear on the scheme? Yes, as Motability has committed to increasing the amount if evs.

I see any changes coming in this way:

Those already on scheme but with base or limited model offerings will extend the offerings if demand falls.

Those not engaged with the scheme will, most likely, continue without the scheme.  They are more likely to incentivise the corporate lease market, as there’s already government incentives for ownership.  Thus salary sacrifice schemes could find themselves with some bargains if something simply wont shift in the required numbers.

However, as Roger says, demand is still strong.  The chances of the likes of Ford and BMW extending their range is limited if people are already buying the models elsewhere.   Whilst it wold be good to see a long range/higher spec Mach E and i4 and even the Q4 it’ll depend on whether they’re selling enough against their production planning.

Not disagreeing with you as EV sales are up around 1.5% compared to September registrations last year. Mnufactures are strugging, while many are reporting loses. Does that mean we will see more of a variety on the scheme, I’m not so sure, unless Motability dig deeper in their pocket (see my earlier post), rather than their normal cut throat buisness model. WouldAP’s will rise who knows!

I’m actively looking at EV’s namely the ioniq 6 at this point, does it go as far in the real world as my current car hell no, especially in colder weather. The main issue I have is the lack of charging stations when I’m away from home every three weeks. By that I meen faster 100-150kW chargers, which there are only three and realistically in the wrong place. Do I divert 60-70miles and go via the motorway hell no thats just plain stupid. Any EV that is capable of 450+ WLTP miles won’t be seen on the scheme for quite a while.

Ive been actively window shopping for a an air fryer for 12 months or more and still haven’t bought one ?

I’m lookingat least however I wish there was more AWD models available. The iniq 6 bongs when you go 1 or 2mph over the speed limit, which is actually slower than GPS speeds. This bong can’t be permantly turned off and likely do my head in!

Kezo, at least you can turn off the bongs on the Ioniq 6 apparently, but at the price of loosing your speed sign camera recognition, which will be a miss to me. I like yourself would love to see the AWD Ioniq 6, but it will need to be very soon, for me to change my order for one.

I believe you can but, it reactivates each time you start the car. The other way is to turn the warning/s volume right down.

No idea about the Ioniq but on the Tiguan I currently have, you can set the warning noise to wait until you’re further above the limit – I have mine set at the max 12mph over purely because it seems to be based on GPS not sign recognition and there are a boatload of 70mph roads around here which the GPS thinks are 60’s.

I’m NOT a speeder, drive pretty much everywhere with the adaptive cruise set AT the speed limit so it was driving me batty – still happens sometimes when it thinks a 30 is a 10 (no idea how that happens) but it’s a LOT less common set at 12 over

Kezo I assume you know you can probably run your air fryer from your Ioniq 6, maybe that is why you are waiting to buy the two together, to match them up colour wise.

Time will tell but at this current moment and in no particular the Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5 AWD and Suzuki Across PHEV (Rav4) (which also has a socket in the boot) and unlikely the Mazda CX60 PHEV (which has 2 sockets) Both PHEV’s are AWD 🙂
