I was impressed with the Blue Badge renewal process, (1st time for me)

Received a reminder letter, applied online easy to follow instructions, updates throughout the application process, arrived on the date stated…

Filled out the online feed back with a glowing report, credit where credits due, nothing more than a great service…

And yet my experience was nothing like that. Mine was late for a driving holiday overseas this year and it caused no end of inconvenience.

Having a disability for life that does not change it annoys the pants off me having to renew every three years. I mean, the government give me cold hard cash for life, why not a poxy parking badge?

Damn, nearly twisted my ankle falling off that soap box.

Anyways, good you got it and I am glad you had a good experience. ??

like wise, The real bonus was not having to get a passport picture done and just had my pic taken at home with a plain background.

Tbh DumfriesDik I thought a few might have said service wasn’t very good, so been as mine was very good, I feel this should be noted too, always nice sometimes to hear a positive..

Understand your frustration with your experience, but as mention mine was great..

Yeah agree AtoB Dude the take a photo at home and send it with the application is so much better than those passport photo machines, also saves about £7ish..

I’ve never had too much trouble renewing my badge thought I do get a bit hung up on processing times given sometimes as they often state the turn around lag time being up to 8 week so I always put in my application then then get an application form in the post about 3 weeks before renewal tell me I need to renew.

So I always come down on the caution side of things and apply earlier than I should and that said the badge I have now that was renewed this year I got about 2 weeks before the old one expired were all the others have come close to the wire of the expiry of the old badge.

Try renewing if you don’t get any benefits as I had to do recently for MIL, she’s 83 and housebound.

They want to know everything all over again even though it’s just a renewal.

Every medication, what dose, how many, how often etc, last 10 years of appointments for any doctors, hospital, specialist, home help etc, every time and date and what it was for…..for 10 YEARS!!!

Every piece of equipment used to help with mobility, how it’s used and where it came from.

A full list of all ailments, how they affect mobility, how long suffered, prognosis etc.

It was on a par with a PIP application, just to renew a Blue Badge.

After all that the woman who took payment wrote down the wrong surname (nothing even close to it) so after waiting 6 weeks had to call and try to find out where it was, 3 days and 10 phone calls to finally get to the bottom of what happened and another 3 weeks to arrive.

Not going to bother in future I’ll just use mine as I’m really the only person who takes her anywhere anyway!

Terrible treatment and halfway through reading I thought it was a pip application too. Was this for the council? if so which 0ne?

One thing that does get me with applications like this is that you have to upload an image of things like your PIP entitlement – which they then verify. So we have one government department checking that the paperwork that has been sent is correct with another.

Just have a tick box with  the particular entitlement and then check – no need to upload a scanned image of a letter.

That was one of nightmares I was facing when I changed from DLA to PIP and they only gave me 10 points before my tribunal restored the 12.

As I understood it then and from the bad memory of that time that I’d like to forget if I could, but only having the 10 points you qualify but not automatically so would have lead to the nightmare that vinalspin talks about I’m sure.

It was for Redcar & Cleveland Council but I think it’s the same for all as I tested it with Wakefield Council when I renewed mine and ticking the box for no PIP lead on to the same nightmare, I then went back a page and ticked the “yes” box for PIP and as the OP states it was a POP.

I understand the fact checking aspect to stop fraud but this is a renewal and as such means they’ve already assessed the claimant and approved them so why not just verification checks? I’m sure it’s done to put off as many as possible from applying again as the majority in that situation will be elderly and unlikely to have the tech knowledge or even access to it (no internet/pc etc)!
