Just wondering what algorithms they are using to decide what ads to target us with on this website now. It just made me laugh at being invited to look at used Aston Martins. Perhaps they are looking at the AP’s we are being asked to pay now and thinking money is no object ?

I use an iPad and for quite a while now I get constant ad bars popping up from the bottom of the page every time that I use this forum. I have to click on a down arrow to get rid of them. I don’t get this on any other website that I use, so had assumed that it was a deal that wmcforum had come to in order to help fund the website?

I get them. If they are from Google they will usually  be loosely based on your browsing history. That’s why when you look at a website selling radio’s you will see adverts for radios for a few weeks. I run a business using Google AdWords, we use Google remarketing, if you visit our site, we chase you around the web with an advert.

If you don’t want ads, use the Brave browser or if you don’t like that try Duckduckgo.

The drop down thing is one of those things that Google do and in order for it to stop, you have to manually amend. I’ll try and remove it now, there are no deals done or money to be made, the adverts almost cover the running costs.
I do this for the joy of spending time with you all.

I will have to look into this. I have always had these pop ups coming  up and just thought that it was part of the website.

There is absolutely no ‘pop up’ ads allowed on this site, Google have recently added a drop down, which I will remove. If you are getting pop up ads then you should look into that.

Tend to get ads in-between posts (every 2 or 3) if viewing on mobile or tablet.

No ads at all if viewing on desktop with Firefox or chrome as adblock+ does it’s job, same for the Chromebook, zero ads there.

wmcforum has said that the pop-ups didn’t generate any income, so they are best gone as they were just an irritant. @wmcforum – thanks for doing this.

Adblock Plus has been separating the wheat from the chaff for me.

Totally free and does a great job.
