I picked up my new Ford Capri on Wednesday I have to say I love the car. I know there is a lot of hate with the naming of it but It obviously shares nothing with the old capri. I had 2 capris back in the 80s and yes they were iconic but they always handled terribly in the wet and lets face it they were a Cortina in drag lol.
Anyway love the car hate OHME and their subcontractors PRO EV. I informed them over a month before picking up the car. and with so many cancelled appointments for no apparent reason I am hoping they will turn up tomorrow a week after getting my car!

That looks like a beautiful car ! I had loads of teething problems with ohme but ( touch wood) it’s been great for a year now.
May 20, 2025 at 12:43 pm #305664Ohme were a real struggle when I had mine installed but, touch wood, it’s been fault free ever since.
The Capri looks like it should be a successful car for Ford. I’ve heard comments about some things being Ford and some VW, including switching and displays. If that’s the case, it will either appear confused or someone’s done really well to marry the two together.

yes looking at the picture the steering wheel and controls, and ‘gear stick’ all look identical to my id5 which is a joy to use once you get used to it ( about 5 minutes) it seems odd to have a ‘gear stick’ anywhere else now.
May 20, 2025 at 2:59 pm #305675Yeah to be fair I am very impressed by the Capri. its the first ford I have had on Motability since the days of my first s-max. Probably not important to a lot of people but apple car play cuts out every 2 minutes. To give ford their due they are taking it in for a day to update something lol. The rear wheel drive extended range 77 k Wh battery which I got is scarily fast.
May 20, 2025 at 3:02 pm #305676It took a while to get comfortable with the steering mounted gear lever. I still had muscle memory from my Suzuki Swace hybrid. lol

it’s funnier when you get in something else after you get used to it and keep going to flick the non existent gear stick with your right hand!! It is lovely what a great choice of car.
May 20, 2025 at 3:20 pm #305678Thank you. I originally went to look at the explorer but fell in love with the capri. It even has a bigger boot it is cavernous😎

May 21, 2025 at 6:59 pm #305722While I don’t like the name I don’t dislike the car. If the AP were to drop into my ballpark my March then I’d definitely test drive.
May 21, 2025 at 7:33 pm #305725May 22, 2025 at 8:35 am #305739It is a amazing car. I can get past the name. To me it doesn’t matter as it holds absolutely no relevance to the original Capri. Part of me thinks Ford have deliberately caused controversy naming it the Capri as good or bad publicity is still publicity 🙂
May 22, 2025 at 8:46 am #305740Yes the AP is high but I cant see many low APs for cars around £50.000 mark even the ID5 that it is built on has a AP over £3000
May 27, 2025 at 2:10 pm #305887My wife has got a Capri on order. It’s good to see you are happy with yours.
How long did you have to wait for delivery? We placed our order on 7th April but aren’t getting any updates.
May 27, 2025 at 4:56 pm #305898I ordered my car on the 18th February and picked it up on the 14th May, so a little less than 3 months.
If people can get past the name it is really a cracking car and I think its popularity is taking off.
May 28, 2025 at 11:47 am #305931Thanks – that’s really helpful.
It seems we might have a bit longer to wait.May 30, 2025 at 8:06 pm #306025Delivery to the dealer in Loughborough scheduled for the 10th June.

And…..it’s still in Dagenham!
June 30, 2025 at 6:18 pm #307450We finally picked up my wife’s new Capri EV this lunchtime.
We’ve gone for the Vivid Yellow – sunglasses appear to be an optional extra.
I think I’ve got my head around the tech in the car sufficiently to explain it to the owner 🙂
As expected the technology is sufficient for the job, but not overwhelming.
It’s a lovely car to drive. The only thing that’s still confusing me – at the moment – is the charging schedules.
I’ve switched us over to Octopus Intelligent Go (having been happy with Octopus for a few years now) – and the options of charge settings in the Ohme app vs the Octopus app vs the Ford Pass app are ‘doing my head in’. I expect it will all become clear in due course, but if anyone has any advice or pointers then I’m listening.June 30, 2025 at 6:39 pm #307452It is a amazing car. I can get past the name. Ford started using names with the Mustang, that created so many clicks and comments, they’ve butchered other names since. I guess their marketing dept have realised some good publicity despite everyone commenting negatively.

I’m not sure the youngsters will understand this!
June 30, 2025 at 8:54 pm #307468There was a great review of Ford Capri – a lady drove all the way, talking about Capri, but she kept a sticker “Mondeo” on it too.
N.B. I could be confusing and it was Ford Mustang she applied the Mondeo sticker.
