      Hi,

      Looking for some guidance on this. I have a new Sportage on order and have been told it’s on a ship (about time! Ordered on 1st April 2022).

      My current car had  personalised plate on it on delivery – the first time I’d ever had it – how do I ensure I retain my plate?

      Thanks

        You need to contact Mb I think and tell them you want to retain it and pay the transfer fee. Did you mention it to the dealer when you placed the order as they might be able to do it or advise you.

        I left the scheme after having the PP on my  scheme car it’ had been on retention and didn’t want to lose it so put it on.

        So i actually took it off again onto retention and gave it to the dealer to put on my new car. So I think it’s best to ask mb what is the correct way. I assume your current car is a scheme car.

          Hi joesto,

          Firstly, take your private plate off your current car and put it on retention, then you have two choices;
          (i) Ask your dealer to put your private plate on your new car ready for collection day.
          or

          (ii) Take delivery of your new car with normal age related plates then change then to your private plate.

          The second option whilst more of a pain will mean you will already have the cars required plates for putting back on at the end of your lease.

          Motabilty allow either option, it often depends on how helpful your dealer wants to be!

          Good luck ?
