Sorry OT but has anyone had their letter & struggled to get an appt?

I’ve tried for a week & the “nearest” place is supposedly 35 miles away but that’s as the crow flies it’s not even in the same county & across the North Sea, as me I’m being sent from North Norfolk to Skegness which in actual fact is over 90 miles by car & not speedboat.

Next nearest according to them is Wisbech at 48 Road miles.

My wife was called in by the Dr’s because she’s my carer & given her jab weeks ago at our surgery (6 miles) but the disabled & I’ll person is expected to travel like that for both jabs. Also nearby sites nearby don’t have disabled parking either.

Is this our area or are others getting the same. I’m not driving that far if I have a bad reaction how do I get home? Not to mention the cost I’m waiting to see if the Dr’s offer me one.

Ours were not far away luckily , it was strange though, so the covid vaccine center is a building attached to the hospital, my father in law had his there and his second is booked there, I had to go into the hospital for mine not the vaccine center, the father in law had Oxford jab, and in the hospital I had Pfizer , then my wife being my carer we booked her in online the same time as the father in law but she had to go 12 miles further south to a pharmacy and they had a marquee on the side doing them, and her second jab is 15 miles in the other direction to a boots pharmacy, we were so confused, but it was all we could get and we wanted vaccinations sooner rather then later. Can’t believe their making you go that far , but to be fair to make sure I got my vaccine I would have driven that far, as I’m terrified of the horrible virus!!

@Richard , phone your doctor, that’s what I had to do, everyone I knew that were due them had been contacted, I had to phone my doctor’s surgery for the receptionist to say you probably aren’t on the priority list, so I said you need to check again, and she said oh yeah we sent you two texts three weeks ago , I said you bloody didn’t, so they booked me in on their system

Unfortunately I’m not on the priority list for whatever reason & surgery have signs up all over the website saying DON’T call them asking, I might fire them an email asking anyway. Bit cheesed off over it, only I drive, wife has provisional so even driving me back if I was incapacitated it’d still be illegal, can’t get a lift with anyone outside household as that’s still illegal.

They closed the nearest centre down because of lack of use, no one used it because they never added it to their website to direct people there, you couldn’t make it up could you.

The nearest one in Norwich is still 30 miles each way. I just react badly to so many things as my liver is a bit feeble so I’m being very over cautious about the jab & being a long way from home.

Ironic that the wife WAS a priority because she’s a carer, yet I’m not….

            Thanks for the replies folks

What a nightmare Richard, surely you should be given the jabs at the Doctor surgery..

I can’t understand why not, I do hope you get something sorted, I personally think the vaccine is a must..

Best of luck with it though ?

              ?
