My mother claims pip and needs help getting around. I also claim pip but not higher rate. Can she get a mobility car and me be the only driver on it? On google it said -No, you cannot be the only named driver on someone else’s Motability car if you claim PIP yourself.

I appreciate any replies thank you

Hi, did you look at the Motability website itself under ‘Your drivers’?

Personally I can’t see a reason why a non driver is unable to nominate another person on PIP to drive the vehicle as long as they fit the age category, have a licence, etc.

I have been the only named driver on my wife’s mobility car since 2008 and have been on pip or dla since 2012 since I became disabled, I have mentioned it to Motability as when I first became disabled we needed to change car for something which would take 2 mobility scooters and they certainly didn’t question it.

Right, I think just call Motability, they always seem really nice to me.
